Lady Mary Galfreh
Lady Mary Isabelle Galfreh
Lady of Harvestshield
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Mary is tall for a woman, and has broad shoulders, but her lower half is a little petite. This gives her a bit of an odd shape, but her kind smile and warm eyes help everyone see past her quirky figure
Apparel & Accessories
Mary likes to dress in simple clothes as often as is appropriate. She prefers sundresses to gowns, and can often be seen wearing pants when working in the fields or her gardens. She likes wearing hats, and has a good collection for many different occasions
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Originally hailing from Calderwood, Mary met her now husband, Derrick Galfreh when he was stationed there. They quickly fell in love and Mary followed him back to Essillion, where she learned the ways of political life. She fell in love with the gardens of Essillion and spent many days talking with the caretakers there, learning about Mirriam and her love of nature.
When Derrick became disenchanted with his life in Essillion, Mary convinced him to settle somewhere north, away from Essillion's reach, and he readily agreed. They founded the town of Harvestshield, where she maintains the church to Mirriam and Curceon, and is beloved by the farmers and citizens of Harvestshield.
Education
Mary's education in Calderwood was very basic, though not simple. She was taught to read and write, some modicum of history, particularly local, and some hints of religion. She is an avid learner and takes on new training and opportunities to learn as often as she can get them. She learns better when engaging with people versus reading it in a book
Accomplishments & Achievements
The founding of Harvestshield and the flourishing of that community is Mary's greatest accomplishment. Along with her husband, some of his loyal followers, and the friends she has made in their town, Mary has been able to make Harvestshield a place of growth, community, and friendship.
Failures & Embarrassments
Mary feels her greatest failure is being unable to bear a child to her husband. He treats her with the greatest respect and never brings it up but she cannot help but feel shame for not being able to further his line.
Intellectual Characteristics
Mary is a keen judge of character, and is very good at reading people. She can learn quite a lot about someone just by talking to them, more so than by just looking at them.
Morality & Philosophy
Much like her husband Mary thinks that everyone deserves a chance to live their life as they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else's ability to live safely and comfortably. She believes in community and it grateful that her husband has no qualms about removing unsavoury elements from their home if things start to become challenging.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
She treats the whole town as her children and always wants what is best for them
Social
Religious Views
Mary is very dedicated to the worship of Mirriam, and she makes sure that there is a place for all who want to venerate her. She maintains the temple to Mirriam and Curceon, called the Harvestguard, and holds sermons and dedications for the farmers and citizens. She does not hold service for Curceon but she makes sure the temple is available and stocked with whatever is necessary. There is no head priest but there are stalwart worshippers that may take turns holding service for Curceon
Social Aptitude
Mary is very good at social situations, in both small and intimate gatherings, as well as larger functions. She listens more than she speaks, and is very empathetic. She feels everyone has a story and is eager to hear it.
Mannerisms
When with her husband she is often holding his arm, and may sometimes stroke it when he is put under stress or as a reminder to think before he acts. She can also be seen adjusting her hat, whenever she is trying to refocus her attention on something new.
Hobbies & Pets
Mary loves gardening, reading, and talking with people. She does not have the love for the pets that her husband has, but she tolerates them well
Speech
Mary speaks with confidence, but not loud or boisterous. She is calm, reserved, and generally engaged with whomever she is speaking with
