The Hollow - Hollow's Point

The centre of the city is formally known as Hollow's Point and it is in a large hollow between the surrounding hillocks of the upper city. It can be reached by going down one of four separate stairs built into the hillside. The Hollow, as it is more commonly known, contains parkland, trees, some small shops and cafes, and a pool named Hollow Pond, surrounding a grand clocktower, called The Hollow Chime. The chimes of the clock can be heard throughout the city and it goes off every hour. They say Hollow’s Point is a city that never sleeps and the chiming of the clocktower ensures that is true for many people. On the outer edges of the city the chime is fainter, but many people use it to make sure they can keep their meetings with clients or friends. To the Hollowans, time is money, and they are very proud of their clocktower.
Brandywine’s Fine Inn and Alehouse associates more closely with The Hollow than anywhere else in the city. Brandywine’s is owned by a curious, but very pleasant couple, who take great pride in their establishment. Porter Brandywine a Human of short stature, and his Halfling wife Penelope have made a very comfortable living catering to tourists, merchants, and some wealthy patrons of the city. They craft their own furnishings, make the food from scratch, brew their own ales, and press their own grapes to make wine. They have two Tallfellow children, who have both grown taller than Porter, who help them run the business. They have a ‘friendly’ competition with Guillaume Merryfeather and the Misty Maiden but neither goes out of their way to disparage the other’s business.
In the Hollow there are a few shops, small cafes and restaurants, and a place to rent or buy supplies for picnics, art supplies, or fishing gear, as well as a Hollow’s Point Welcoming Centre. There you can find maps, recommendations, and general information about the city, its customs, and its offerings. Many people make their first stop in Hollow’s Point there to get a lay of the land. Small fish can be found in Hollow Pond but most people just fish for sport. Killing fish is discouraged but it has been known to happen. Transgressors will usually be shown to the nearest fishmonger in the market to purchase their fish. Repeat offenders are often escorted out of The Hollow by The Hollow Hand.
