Meadowspring is small for a city but large enough for the Halflings to call it their capital. While it is larger than a town it still feels like one to those that visit and live there. The great trade and friendship Meadowspring has with Essillion and the Dwarves of both Denethen's Mantle and the The Barrier Guard of Denethen has allowed the Halflings there to thrive and prosper. The Gnoll population is smaller than in the south but there are still some concerns with them. The main concern Halflings have in the north are with the Fallen of Azdurok and their raiding parties. Meadowspring enjoys the protection of the Humans, the Dwarves, and the Elves of the north, and they make friends with any tribes that make the Vale their home. The market square of Meadowspring is the most active place in the city and there are many opportunities to revel, drink, and gossip, as well as just enjoy the great outdoors. Shops of all kinds are present but the citizens of Meadowspring tend to gravitate toward useful and practical items over fancy or overly convoluted items (such as Gnome inventions). They are curious about all things, but they tend to purchase or hold onto items that have history, family value, or have been passed down from generation to generation. The one thing they love to show off, however, is their Moonmoss fashions or creations. They have a good business of gathering and crafting Moonmoss and the Halfling merchants love to show it off to prospective clients wherever they travel. Meadowspring was fortunate enough to be spared most of the impact of The Fractioning and as such has existed as it does now for centuries, without much change to their society. They feel great empathy for the people of the west and do their best to accommodate them when possible. This accounts for many Halfling’s feelings of guilt for their circumstance of luck. The current leader of Meadowspring is a Halfling of considerable girth named Eddie Fatrabbit, known for his love of mead, meals, and maids. He has never settled down to have a family but he considers the city his extended family and most people enjoy his company and his leadership. He has continued with the expansion of the city to include other villages and hamlets on the outskirts, and he is looking for able-bodied adventurers or mercenary groups to patrol and protect the outlying population from beasts and men alike.
