Country that mostly controls the Sea of Merkall. Has a struggling economy even with a strong maritime presence. Is also struggling with a strong push by Praugn near its capital, Availin City.

The Aethos Empire

The human countries of Aethos was recently made up of only 5 countries, four of which were a part of The Aethos Empire, Mayvin, Pyne, Estraini, and Garyk. Yemisyrl remained independent. Mayvin was the seat of power for the Empire and home to the Emperor. The other countries had Lords, Ladies, Dukes, and Dutchesses to lead them under the Imperial Banner.
Emperor Nevell Lamont Mayvin made a string of rash choices at the end of his life that began to break the stability of the empire and alienated his own people. One of these choices was to break a pledge of marriage between Pyne & Mayvin, instead entering a marriage pact with a family in Mornetharin. This was viewed as a major insult to Pyne. When his son came into power, the Empire was already fragile, which didn't bode well for the young headstrong Nevell Lamont Mayvin II. A well respected sea captain from Pyne refused to alter a contract of transportation of goods after the Emperor made a sudden special request. Most of the people of Aethos believed the captain was still in the right as he was honoring a contractual agreement. The Emperor had the captain beheaded for treason. With tensions already high with Pyne, this was the final straw for its Duke, which then seceded from the Empire. Garyk soon followed as Mayvin was abusing its access to its raw materials.
Estraini remained under the banner for a time longer, though many questioned why it was dragging out its decision as it appeared obvious that the Empire was collapsing. To augment the losses of wealth and supply from Garyk & Pyne, the Emperor began making harsher demands on the people of Mayvin. This also reached a tipping point that saw Mayvin's own people begin to revolt against the Empire. The Emperor called out to Estraini to help fight the open revolt, but Estraini didn't answer the call. The result was Mayvin breaking into 6 separate pieces, Mayvin proper and The Five Provinces of Aethos. Estraini then declared its independence.
