Sgitheanach Dubh

Located off the western coast of Tuathalba, Sgitheanach Dubh is the largest of the Innsegall Islands and serves as the center of the group known as the A-staigh Innsegall (Inner Islands).   The island derives its name from the dark colored limestone, basalt and volcanic (igneous) rock that forms the central hilly and mountainous backbone of the island. Some say the name also reflects the often dark and ominous skies that hover over the magical island.

Geography

The island has a number of regions:
  • Trotternish: The northern peninsula that is home to The Quirang and The Old Man of Storr
  • Glen Conon aka "Rock Home": The western and central hills and mountains located in the Trotternish Peninsula. Home to clans and factions of Dwarves, Gnomes and other mountain and hill dwellers.
  • North Coast: The western and northern coastal region of the Trotternish Peninsula.
  • Fearann Dorcha aka The Dark Land: The dark, foreboding old-growth forest in the central area of Sgitheanach Dubh. Home to large numbers of clans and factions of Elves
  • Waternish: North-western peninsula that is home of a variety of races and clans

  • Sleat: Southern peninsula and home to Clan Donald and its septs

  • Bla Bheinn: A mountain and one of highest spots in Albion
