Republic of Burgess (Burr-jess)
Founded in roughly 7000 MS/MR, the free city of Burgess is allied to but not ruled by the sizable kingdom of Camelot - the freemen live entirely independently of the benefits Camelot’s citizens enjoy. They have their own army, mages, smiths, religious/political leaders, etc, many of whom lend their services to Camelot from time to time - in fact, it has become a staging post for the rest of Camelot’s allied forces.
Structure
Notably, Burgess has no ruling monarch - instead, the day to day municipal matters concerning its citizens are handled by the Fratem, a council composed of several elected members of high and/or well-respected families.

Allies
While Burgess does not operate under Camelot's protection and in fact repels any such offers, in the 3 and a half thousand years they've shared a border the sister societies have built a relationship of friendship and respect. Burgess and Camelot have never been at war with one another in this time, and do not intend to enter into geopolitical combat.
