Glojarl

The Lightburn

Glojarl is the Theotian of dead light. Antithesis to the gods So'lith and the Shadow Weaver, Glojarl is most popular within the deserts of the world. Very popular in the country of Rabul and the death sands of Jul and Austrulia, Glojarl expects regular tribute to travel within these swaths of lands safely.   The dead light is a burning, malignant light that exists within The Weave of some deserts around the world. Known to sap away strength quickly, producing water with magic impossible, and corrupting those that succumb to it to wanderers, the dead light seeks to spread its influence as far as it can.   Shadow Weaver is the counterforce to Glojarl, always having been a thorn in the light god's side. Providing succor for weary travellers in the night, it is in these few hours one can use magical means to produce water. Glojarl's influence still wraps around and interferes with its creation, but it at least becomes possible. In the worst of the dead light deserts though, such as the Mariax Sands of Death, dehydration and death come quickly, and even gallons of water won't save you.   Glojarl is oddly one of the original pantheon, having always been around along with So'lith. The two sects despise each other, and would see each other destroyed at any opportunity. Glojarl has always been on the backfoot against So'lith's legions of redeemed and righteous, but even the most steadfast that travel into the heart of the desert fall to all the tribulations the Thirstbringer throws their way. Some think that in the beginning, the two gods were brothers. Their affiliations are quite similar, but their interpretation wholly different from each other. Whether this is true or not though, none can say.   Beyond the gnolls and iruxi that still revere Glojarl, Rakshasa also respect and owe their creation to him. Rabul, under governance of such creatures, provide great tributes to him and make sure his power is still something to be feared. Some underground tribes of pepuali revere the Lightburn as well, spreading his corruption in the darkest reaches of the Realms down Under in exchange for his light.   Those that succumb to the deadlight become wanderers, desert husks that seek to bring more ruin upon Glojarl's enemies. Intelligent undead, they are formidable alone, and devastating when a horde. They have the ability to spread their affliction, as well as the dead light. Luckily their influence is kept within the deserts Glojarl has dominion over, they are quickly reduced to nothing outside of them. The scariest part of the wanderer however is their base immortality. Even when killed, if their remains stay with the dead light they will reform.
