Sidobians
the Descendants of Siduum
Sidobians are Human natives of Anbar on the major continent of Ethae. The population is concentrated in the Craddle Valley region, and the population bases their identity with the land and its geography. These people, of the Somon ethnic group trace their roots through to the ancient Siduumites and beyond to the early Valan people that, according to myth, settled the region near the beginning of history.
The daily language of the Sidobians is the common Sidubi that is spoken in much of eastern Anbar. However, the strong regional and tribal ties of the Sidobians means there are at least a dozen different dialects within the Craddle Valley. Despite being a united people under the Banner of Mysobia, they are a people that hold strong to their regional heritage, with many of the older generations refusing to learn any common language, keeping their old tongues alone.
The Sdobians are an olive-skinned people, it is rare to find pale Normon skin tones, even among the mixed heritage, though this does exist in the northern coastal regions, especially in Kara Mara. Hair colors are nearly always black or dark brown and kept short by both men and women. Women with long hair are looked down upon as it is seen as a sign of prostitution. Hair, however, is rarely seen as both men and women wear head coverings starting from their early teen years. Men sport beards with pride, with clean faced men considered weak and frail. Eye colors are universally dark brown, some so much they appear entirely black. Clothing style varies between regions, with bright colors denoting tribal heritage. Blue and green are seen as neutral colors, so are worn while traveling or in large cities to avoid ancient rivalries when away from home. These clothes are light fabrics that breath within the heat of the region, but still shade to prevent burning from the sun. Women's style allow skin to be seen along the abdomen, though showing the belly button is considered scandalous, leaving many to avoid this style in the off chance any clothing movement might show something they would be embarrassed to reveal.
