The Kingdom of Freydin
The Kingdom of Freydin occupies the continent of the same name and shares borders with The Halidom of Adeus. In ancient days the land was occupied by the yuan-ti and the mindflayers, with the yuan-ti laying claim to the eastern half of the continent and the mindflayers residing in the western half.
The country's sprawling plains and forests are home to a wide variety of races, but it is largely populated by humans, halflings, orcs, and dwarves.
The capital city of Freydin is Ferindel, a sprawling multi-tiered metropolis that sits on the eastern edge of the Heartlake. The king and queen rule the kingdom from their castle in the center of the city, but the much of the actual rulership of the country falls to barons, dukes, and other nobility spread throughout the territory.
Structure
The King and Queen hold the highest rank within the Kingdom, with responsibility shared equally between the two. The Assembly of Eight is a council of eight mages, one from each of the major schools of magic, who the King and Queen can call upon for advice when necessary. While separate from the nobility, the Assembly occupies an honored and respected position within the Kingdom. Directly serving the King and Queen are the nobles, who often rule over a section of the Kingdom's territory. Within each noble's domain, individual towns and cities are managed by governors, mayors, and lesser aristocrats.
Public Agenda
The Kingdom of Freydin is dedicated to leading the rest of the world in technological advances and industry. One of the reasons for this goal is to bring the various territories of the country closer together and foster a greater sense of unity among its people.
History
The land that comprises the modern Kingdom of Freydin was once held by the yuan-ti and the mindflayers, but ever since the metallic dragons brought the gift of magic from the gods, the humans, halflings, dwarves, and other mortal races that call its lands home have built many great cities there.
The former rulers of the Kingdom of Freydin, King Augustus Jerome and Queen Anastasia Elise, relinquished the throne to their only daughter, Princess Dawn Erindora and her husband Thaddeus Constantine in the year 7526.
