Duke Gavin Hammerlock
The youngest son of the Hammerlock clan, who grew up resentful and bitter toward his older siblings.
In truth, he is the bastard son of Lucavis and Valerie Nightingale, an operative of the Undercity Sisterhood who has long been installed as the Hammerlock maidservant. His loyalties lie entirely with her, with whom he has been scheming to get back at the Hammerlocks for most of his life.
Between the time when Thaddeus left for Adeus and his return, Gavin took up his father's interest in striking pacts with otherworldly entities in exchange for power. The identity of his patron is a secret he keeps close, though there have been hints as to its nature in his dealings with he Antiheroes since their arrival in Ferindel.
Harmony and Mara encountered a boggle in Gavin's room while they were searching for a missing diamond from the Temple of the Eight Sisters, indicating that Gavin had ties to the fey. This was reinforced later when Gavin appeared to save the party from a horde of warforged overtaking the capital, casting the powerful spell plane shift to bring them to the Feywild, which he claimed was a place of safety. While there, Gavin was secretly working with fey to have important belongings stolen, which all seemed to be part of a complex scheme of his to obtain the hairs from a trio of korreds.
Gavin is also known to have some enmity toward Esanihen, though whether this is on his patron's behalf or simply due to his hatred for his brother is unclear. It was Gavin who stole the diamond from Esanihen's statue, and Gavin who had Thaddeus' moon blade stolen while the group was in the Feywild.
He has chiefly used the considerable power gained from his patron to advance his own status: first by manipulating King Augustus Jerome and Queen Anastasia Elise into granting them Princess Dawn Erindora's hand in marriage, and later by convincing his father to amend his will so that he would be named successor to the family title. The move went uncontested at the reading of the will, and so now Duke Gavin Hammerlock rules over his family land, beholden to powers unknown.
