Chapter 4, Session 3: Celebration, Sensors and Sending

General Summary

'I'M FLYING BITCH!'
  • Fen flying Baralas over the town of Edmonton with firebolt-fireworks.
The party returned to the Aist mage protected side of Edmonton to a level of applause as they had clearly put on quite the display of power and efficiency for the Frey Blades and Aist Mages watching.   After a time of soaking up their success through bowing and 'working the crowd' Miroslav Cauchmar dispersed the soldiers and told them to prepare for the upcoming attack on the Gnomes. He took the party, specifically Hayili Flickermask and congratulated them on their success before giving Hayili her reward, several magical items and a promise that the party can stay in Edmonton for as long as they wish and have acces to Freyfrost if they want more work, sanctuary or contacts.   With this, Kodo asked the leading FreyBlade if he could organise a courier for his letters, to which Cauchmar agreed to find one who would be willing to travel across the dangerous space of Alturis.   The party then washed themselves up and went to the Freyblade drinking house, a space that Amrys recognised as being of a similar design to the Warlington drinking halls that he was familiar with. The party had a, strange, night where Fen and Olympia communicated wordlessly throughout whilst Hayili, Mimsi and Amrys got super drunk and saw through most of the night in the drinking house.   Thordak meanwhile, went to rest for the night instead and played with his sending stone that he was given by Zaknafein Dundox and Panic in preparation for their assault on the Utrunks clan. He spoke into it and asked about whether the assault had been a success. There was a long pause after that, and then a voice Thordak recognised replied through the stone, the voice of Vola who mocked 'little Thordak' and told him the assault failed and Zaknafein was now perched on a spear whilst she had no idea who 'Panic' was but he assured Thordak he would always be welcome in the pits of the clan. Thordak went berserk at this and screamed threats and insults into the stone before realising it was not transmitting any of this message. After that he had a VERY rough nights sleep.    The next morning, the party decided to start attending to a number of their affairs, notably, getting in touch with those who were still alive, or at least should be. They also still needed to find a permanent solution for Ellena Swarov who had shown no sign of progress or signs of improving, to the point that no one seemed to recognise the former Inquisitor luckily enough for the party. As they attempted to meet up with one another, the party found Hayili had setup shop in the drinking hall (much to the chagrin of the other punters there) and she exchanged more magical items with the party before volunteering herself to deliver their letters and find out more about the bounties on some of the party members before meeting them back in Oar's Rest in one month.    As she left on her journey, the rest of the party discussed what they should do next and decided to take one more attempt at figuring out the scrying sensors around Mimsi. Fen used detect magic to see the sensors and then tried to speak to them, the sensor that was Bazzle Strum-Strum revealed that they were in Eastbourne but gave no further information and the party knew very little about the space. Meanwhile, the dull grey orb traced a path from Oar's rest to the crash site of The Mistwalker, leading the party to believe that it was, in fact, Lyren scrying on them. When they asked for more information, the orb floated over The Cave of Longing and the party decided to (finally) head there to investigate and potentially find Lyren once more.    The party travelled there, now without Hayili and entered the INCREDIBLY deep and dark cave of Longing. The party discussed what they knew about the space as they approached, namely that the people who USED to live in Edmonton worshipped the creature that lived in the cave that went by the moniker 'The Asker' and the party knew this creature could give forbidden information in exchange for memories and experiences... but beyond that the space was shrouded in mystery to them.     The party went inside and made a point of staying close together in a stealthy marching order so as to move efficiently and support one another (specifically keeping Amrys and Olympia close by to benefit from their auras of protection). As they moved, Mimsi heard the voice of Bazzle telepathically reach her and warn her that the cave used illusions, she could not trust those around her and MUST turn right in order to survive. Mimsi avoided the charm of this spell being placed on her but still went into a panic that she could not recognise her friends from illusions, this led to Kodo calming her by placing her on his shoulders and promising that HE was there and that HE would make sure she was protected. This calmed Mimsi and the party continued moving.    As they moved, they saw in the distance two shadowy silhouettes, one standing weakly with curled horns and the other laying down, they assumed these shapes were Lyren and Olond Talthanryl and called out to them, at which points the shapes revealed themselves to be the two remaining Siblings of Chaos and they mocked and goaded the party. This ENRAGED Fen and Olympia who each cast spells towards the standing sibling who, in response broke off and ran down the fork in the tunnel (one went left and one went right) Fen summoned forth his owl (named Baralas) and took flight to chase the female sibling, despite the party's warnings, and so they all followed down the right tunnel that eventually brought them to a dead end that the sibling was standing at the edge of. The sister smiled and went to speak but was cut off by another fireball as Fen decided to try and Roy Mustang the creature.    As he loosed another fireball whilst the party caught up, the sister smiled and turned into ash (Infinity war style), at which point black, shadowy tentacles started to seep through the ceiling and were seemingly targeting Mimsi and attempting to wrap around her and restrain her (bluebeard style ;P ). Luckily Kodo kept hold of Mimsi and stopped her from being dragged away as the party turned to see the brother sibling emerge on the other side of the cave and cut off their chance to escape whilst the sister reappeared in the space that Fen had just killed her in.
