Personal history

The Dawn

Deantoir emerged from the Dawn World. He dwelt in Luminias, City of Light, and crafted weapons and places with Barash.   The Infernals came, and devoured the light. Barash and Loetne perished. Deantoir survived.   The Dragons swept over the Dawn, laying waste to the fiends and scattering the Infernals. Deantoir endured.   The Sovereigns divided the Dawn into Four Kingdoms, and the First Minds chose new bodies for themselves. Deantoir and many of his companions yearned for the lost light of Luminias. They became Alfar, and together they set out into a new world.

Journey of the Companions

Deantoir and the First Elves made their way across the Mortal World. They tangled with Iardanel, who remembered them from the Dawn World. Deantoir fashioned for Iardanel a golden torc with an eye in its center, a remnant of the lost City of Light, but with its gift of Foresight Iardanel saw peril in the future of Ioth and his companions, and turned on them. They escaped his twisting halls of The Otherworld.   They followed strong Fuaran into the depths of Li-Ban's seas, where the arrogant marid Doobbaasseef saw them as foolish children. Doobbaasseef imprisoned them within his palace of pearls to give them a "proper" education, but the companions' knowledge of magic grew, and after years in enchanted servitude they turned on the marid and imprisoned him in an iron bottle.   They followed wise Eagna into the clouds of the Sky Kingdom and passed through the gates of Terranimbus, and Bioga gifted Vindur the fruits of the Dawn World. Vindur blessed them with the secrets of the Celestial Lights far above, and set an eagle to guard the Golden Tree by day, an owl to guard it by night.   They followed Gelgeiss to the depths of the Underworld, to the Pools of Fire and the Wellsprings, and Erecura spilled her blood for them to drink.   By the light of a bonfire they sat with Sin, debating about this new world. When Sin asked each of them the purpose of mortals, Deantoir answered "to make." Sin was pleased with his answer, and shared secrets of craft with the Companions.   Atop the wind-whipped mountains, they challenged Charir, the Red Dragon God, pitting all they'd learned of magic against raw sorcereous power. Charir recognized their strength, but swore that his descendants would ever test the magic of the wizards.   As their journeys drew near an end, each Companion felt drawn to a different aspect of this new world, but all of them learned secret paths between the Four Kingdoms, winding ways unknown even to the Archfey. Gelgeiss descended into the darkness of the earth and the depths of dream. Eagna cast off all obligations and bonds, and took to the skies. Fuaran plunged into the depths of the lifegiving oceans. Bioga and Tnuth disappeared amidst the trees of the great forests of the world. But Ioth, Deantoir and Doeccai returned to the brightest remnant of the Dawn they could find, and there they worked their greatest magic.
