Ireena was born in Vallaki, the younger of twins. Her twin brother, Izek, was a troubled child from a young age, but she was always able to bring him down from his strange "fits."
When Ireena was six, the entire family went on a fishing trip, an idea of her uncle's. On the journey, the family was attacked by dire wolves. Ireena fled the scene, and was unable to find her way back to her family. She wandered the woods, terrified, until she was found by a hunting party led by Kolyan Indiravich, the burgomaster of Barovia Village. The man took her into his family.
Ever since, Ireena has lived in the shadow of Strahd's castle. She has grown into a mild-mannered woman with a will of steel. She has had secret sword training with her brother Ismark, but is more skilled with a bow. She also has an interest in learning magic.
