Session I: The Island of Makai

General Summary

• The party met in The Dapper Dolphin, a small tavern in the village of Taha'i, and talked about their past and their reasons for coming to Makai.

• Butat entered with a crate and opened it. Xiaobo jumped out and knocked Butat down. The party tried to calm Xiaobo down while Kairon brought Butat back from the brink of dead.

• Kairon continued to try and calm down Xiaobo and assure Hiapo that they weren't dangerous, while Irven and Holtz went to get Ka'ena to help Butat.

• Ka'ena helped Butat and the party carried him to his home to let him rest. On the way they saw Confederation officials collection tax from the villagers.

• The party wanted some adventure and decided they wanted to go into the jungle to go search for some ruins. They went to Tahu to buy some tents and bedrolls and set up camp near the jungle. Kairon, Irven and Xiaobo performed their prayers and meditations and Holtz investigated with them about their faith. After that the party went to sleep, awakening when Holtz was holding guard because he got attacked by panthers. The party quickly slew the panthers and finished their rest.

• The party decided they wanted to check out the big fancy house on the hill outside the village. While Holtz explored the house through his spider, Web, Irven and Xiaobo broke through the metal fence and knocked on his front door. A disgruntled man opened the door, who promptly blew them of when Irven asked if he was his dad. They later learned from Ka'ena that the man - who she thinks is named Carlos - moved to the island about a year ago and built the house. He apparently doesn't get into the village much.

• Before leaving to explore the jungle, Holtz bought an exotic yellow flower from Ka'ena which is supposed to have healing properties. The party then explored the jungle. They initially made slow way, but eventually stumbled on a ruin that was overgrown with plantlife. When Kairon stepped on the large circular platform of the ruin, runes began lighting up and an explosion went of. Luckily Kairon was quick to react and managed to drop to the ground to dodge the shockwave. After the blast went of, a small part of the platform opened and revealed a stone staircase.

• On the inside of the ruin the party discovered carvings on the wall of humanoids with animal heads. They also found a pedestal with a bowl that contained 5 platinum pieces and a Tiger's Eye, an orange gemstone with a black core. When Irven picked up the gemstone, multiple black insects with horns and pincers appeared from the ceiling, but they were quickly put to sleep and slaughtered by the party.

• After exploring the ruin, the party made its way back to Taha'i, travelling a little faster through the jungle now that they had already traversed it once. The party decided they wanted to sell their loot and possibly barter passage to Waterdeep, and made their way to the docks. They first approached what seemed like a merchant vessel, The Umbra, but it was quickly made clear that trading and selling wasn't their business. The captain, Aurelia, was willing to trade the Tiger's Eye for a passage to Waterdeep, but the party didn't find this satisfactory. The party also tried to book passage on the Confederation ship, The Valiant, but were turned away by the guards, partially because Xiaobo wasn't being all too friendly.

• The party decided that their travels to Waterdeep weren't a huge priority and went back to The Dapper Dolphin for a meal. They then set up camp near the jungle again, waiting for what the next day will bring.
