The Pantheon of Ardicil

The Pantheon of Ardicil is as wide and varied as its denizens. The inhabit all different planes save for one, the material plane. For thousands of years, the gods roamed the material plane as guides and teachers to the growing races. However, after the Great War and the Sundering, the gods were forced off of the material plane and shunted to different planes of existence. They now influence of the material plane through the weave of divine magic, and through their champions and prophets.   The Gods were first created by the Chaotic Titans of old. The Gods, both Betrayer and Prime alike overthrew their Titan creators and created the material plane. There were four great titans that were defeated.     The circle of Prime Deities includes the leaders and luminary creators. They represent a spectrum of light, protection, love, death, and all other facets of freedom and life in the world. While some gods may disagree and squabble, they exist in a subtle alliance to maintain the sanctity of life and their respective creations. The Prime Deities are the ones who decided to split the planes, and then banish themselves and the other gods to the far realms. Many of them are seen as "Good" gods, however others can be seen as aloof at their best, and chaotic and destructive at their worst.       The Lost Gods are the deities who warred against the Prime Deities and eventually lost. They were in turned betrayed by their counterparts the Traitor Gods. They now serve out their penance in a variety of different ways, and maintain a mostly cool relationship with all of their siblings. Some of this group are still worshipped, as terrible forces of nature, who would only naturally want to start anew the material plane. Others are vilified by many, as foolish supplicants who tried to amass their own power.   The Betrayer Gods are the deities who strayed from the ideals of the Founding and embraced the destructive chaos of the Titans or grew selfish of their own creations. The Betrayer Gods rarely work together, since they see each other as threats to their own plots and goals. This very weakness allowed the Prime Deities to defeat and banish them, ending the Calamity. Very few worship these gods, and those that do usually are aimed at bringing the end of times for all. For the Betrayer gods would see their unbridled ferocity of the Abyss spill into the material plane, carving into their own twisted creation.
