Before she was tortured and had her free will burned away by darkfire, the Will of
Nex was a humble silver elf named Eve. That all changed when she was captured by the forces of Nex during
The Eclipse War . Subjected to Nex's power, she was eventually corrupted into becoming one of Nex's four generals in the war, and was granted great magical power of her own. After the Order of the Eclipse's victory at the end of the second age, the Will as she was now known slipped into the shadows of history, secretly helping to organize the formation of
The Followers of Nex for the day when
Lord Remnant would finally be ready to fulfill his role in returning Nex from
The Void to the
Mortal Realm.
Her existence unknown even to members of the Follower's leadership, the Will's shadowy machinations were eventually discovered by
The Companions, after they infiltrated a secret laboratory of hers near
Lake Torrin. Through a series of confrontations with her in the
Brink Lands, the Companions eventually were able to defeat her in
The Black Sanctum after she had taken several children hostage from
Crepsucule Pass.
Unbeknownst to the heroes, the Will had implanted her soul into
Andre Worldshaper of the Companions, using his body as a mental phylactery. Andre discovered this, and was determined to save her from
Nex's influence. Unfortunately, through Andre's body, the Will was able to finish the ritual of piecing together
The Eclipse Stone, bringing about the return of
Nex.
Never giving up on Eve, Andre eventually knocked himself unconscious during a visit to
The Realm Tree and confronted Nex's influence over Eve in his own mind. Emerging triumphant, Andre was eventually able to give Eve a new body using the leftover energies of the incomplete ritual
The Kindling after Nex's defeat. Gaining not only a body but free will after hundreds of years, Eve is eternally grateful to Andre and the Companions, and currently resides in the castle Andre built after the
Battle of the New Dawn.
