The Realm Tree
A tree the size of a planet, the Realm Tree is thought to be the largest and oldest living thing in all of creation. Watched over by the Ancient Arbora , the Realm Tree’s roots are said to have once spread throughout the Cosmic Sea and connect to every realm (save the Void).
Many of the giant, vibrant forests of the Mortal Realm owe their existence to the Realm Tree. Seeds of the Realm Tree, also known as a ‘Heart of a Forest’, are said to have been planted even before the Cataclysm by the Creator himself, and serve as a direct link to the Realm Tree. Home to thousands of creatures, some of which can still be found in the mortal realm, the Realm Tree also cycles through the four seasons quite quickly, growing brilliant white leaves instead of being bare in the winter. At night, the canopy sparkles with its own constellation of stars on the underside of the tree’s leaves.
The elven race of the Eladrin also makes its home under the sky-canopy of the Realm Tree. Beautiful and unpredictable, an Eladrin itself represents one of the four seasons, influencing its appearance and personality. The area around the Realm Tree is commonly referred to as the FeyWild, and is home a large number of Arch Fey and their many subjects. Arbora watches over the Eladrin and all of nature, desiring the Realm Tree to be a beacon to all those who strive to thrive in creation.
Arbora herself resides in the beautiful Arboreal city of Altissima, located on the highest point of the Realm Tree's enormous canopy. Pools and falls of blissful splendour flow throughout the city, watering the life below, and the city's position affords Arbora with a vantage point with which to observe the sprawling wilds of her realm.
Due to an attack by Nex on the tree during The Kindling, the current Realm Tree lies dead and withered at the center of the realm, its roots severed and cherry blossoms growing from its husk. As Arbora works to heal the damage done by the Screaming Tyrant, the Fey of the Realm eagerly wait for a new tree to grow; one of the tree's seeds being entrusted to a member of The Companions.
