Rufus Brunel
Rufus and Burne are the lords of Hommlet, appointed by the Viscount of Verbobonc. They go back a long while, to a time when they themselves were adventurers. Along with Otis and the mighty mage Tenser, Rufus and Burne led an army against the dastardly Robilar who released a demoness from the Temple of Elemental Evil. They were rewarded jointly for their many adventuring successes by the Viscount of Verbobonc. The duo built a castle, completing construction in 4111 SE.
In his personal travels, Rufus fell in love with a distant nobility, the current Duchess of Daggerford, Lady Camilla. The two became spellbound with each other, and Rufus would propose on his fourth visit. Ever since his castle was built the two have lived together, with the Duchess becoming a distant ruler of Daggerford, representing them in the Lowlands Council of the Dalelands.
While Burne created the group known as Burne's Badgers, it was Rufus who whipped them into shape after the second battle of the Temple of Elemental Evil after the adventuring party Bahamutian Rhapsody disbanded. He would later give the role of militia leader over to Elmo of Hommlet, who has held the position ever since.
Rufus now spends his time at the castle tending his beer garden (a garden given watered-down beer) and living with his wife Camilla, his best friend Burne, and their prized chicken (or was it a dog? A chicken-dog if you will?) Blueford.
