Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
- The Howling Coast Tribes: The presence of Lunari is what gave the region its name as their howls fill the air when they fight against other tribes. They serve as the bulk of the forces who fight against the Sgandian Empire, hoping to stop the Muspel Giants from regaining their territory. With whispers of tribes being enslaved under their rule, Lunari fight even harder to free these people and punish those who would put them in chains.
History
The Lunari were born in Faenum, serving as guardians of the surface while the Aarakocra were guardians of the sky. Unlike most races related to the Fey, they took their roles seriously, not joining in the trickery and games of Archfey during their time in the realm. However, they would step in when trickery went too far to keep the peace in the realm. And that was what would eventually damn them.
They took no part in the Alomri-Fey conflict, viewing it as another game between the two. Even as it escalated, the majority of them would show no favor. That was until the Scarring of Faenum which created a breach to the dark side of Faenum. This enraged the Archfey and they were quick to punish the Alomri for what they perceived as a slight going too far. The Lunari , unable to abide by that, stood between the Fey and their quarry, hoping to keep the peace. However, they were seen as traitors and with the Alomri, were flung out of Faenum and into Avestra.
The Lunari were quick to adapt to their new surroundings as they had visited Avestra before. It surprised them when the Harengon and Elves joined them, discovering that they also fled because of the fear of Archfey fury. Many were tempted to simply avoid the other feyborn races but their natural drive to defend the innocent pushed them away from that idea. For centuries, they defended them from threats, creating safe havens in Feyborn lands. However, the Elders made them realize that others needed their help just as much. And as the Giants invaded the Howling Coast, they moved to act.
Lunari now go to any center of conflict they can find to protect the innocent, whether their feyborn brethren or not. Whether it is the Giants reclaiming their lost empires, the Aerin conflict, or the Brandovian and Haiakage invasions, Lunari are there to fight for those who can't fight for themselves.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Lunari get along best with the Alomri as they can be found in tribes together or if an Alomri is in trouble, they will often seek out a Lunari nearby to aid them first. Their role as Guardians also make them get along well with Aarakorcra, even helping them to discover ways to break the curse on their Kenku brethren.
Lunari have decent relationships with the Elves and Harengon, as it is best to forgive the mistakes of the past when they are all being threatened by forces such as the Elders and Giants. In general, they get along with any of the races as they often protect the innocent across the region. Their tales have spread far and wide to the point to where the Lunari are known as the Guardians of Avestra.
