Harengon
Yah, I got the map you want. Gonna cost you a pretty copper though. Money's no object, whatever you want, I can pay for. Now, I heard you wizards are a secretive bunch but I didn't think y'all were crazy too. My ancestors found this place and it was sure as Devum not a place any of us want to go back to. So what makes you think it's a good idea for you folks to go? Well, unlike you Harengon, we can handle a bit of madness. After all, that is always a risk with power such as this.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Harengon are bipedal rabbit-like humanoids that stand flat-footed like most non-animal races. Despite that, they still have natural talent for jumping people expect from rabbit adjacent creatures.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Like the Elves and Lunari, Harengon are naturally more perceptive than normal people are, most likely due to their keen senses. A trait that seems to come up quite often for those who come from Faenum.
Civilization and Culture

- The Elu Kingdoms: The Harengon are a decent portion of the population, living with their Elven friends in the region quite peacefully. Whether serving as commonfolk or even nobility, the Harengon are a welcomed part of the society.
- Menzo-baren Holds: Working with the Deep Elves and what Dwarves are around, the Harengon explore the Underoads, hoping to see what the depths of Avestra have to offer.
History
Another child of the Fey, the Harengon were quick to get out of the nest in an early part of their existence. Archfey like to claim they instilled this wanderlust in their kind but many Harengon beg to differ. Whatever the case, they were explorers of Faenum, running across Faenum. They visited the deepest valleys and the tallest mountains and even ascended to the skies above to run into the Aarakocra back when they had a home on Faenum. And with that exploration came them finding mortals to the other moon realms of Firum and Wavum, exposing them to the hottest fires and the coldest depths.
However, their favorite place to visit was Avestra. Archeologists have find records that suggest the Harengon had visited Avestra many times before their migration to the realm. From Giants who speak of annoying trespassers to dragons chasing off those who would try to steal from their hordes. The Harengon were always pushing the boundaries of where they could go. It was this wanderlust that allowed them to avoid the conflict between the Alomri and the Archfey, though the subsequent exile of the former and the Lunari didn't sit well with them.
When they heard that many Elves didn't like the implications of that action either, Harengon explorers decided to show them the portals to Avestra and beyond that they could use to escape. When the Archfey discovered their plan and tried to stop them, the rabbitfolk did their best to shepherd the Elves wherever they needed to go. While they didn't get all of them in one place, they were able to get plenty of Elves to Avestra. As thanks for their actions, the Elves offered the Harengon a home amongst them. And plenty would find it a nice place to put their feet up when not exploring or adventuring.
And so the Harengon used Avestra as a base, still going out into the world to discover more. A few decided to go even farther to realms that supposedly lied beyond what the moons. These Planar Travelers as they came to be called went far beyond where any mortal had gone. But as they went further out, they noticed a coldness the further they got from Avestra. And eventually they found the source: Furorum. No one knows exactly when this event happened. Some like to say that was when the Elders noticed the rest of the reality and decided to wipe it out. Others say this was after the fall of Gistra and the exodus of the Gith with the Elders already on their way.
Whatever the case, the Elders found the Harengon explorers and quickly captured most of them. Pulling their minds until they were nothing but broken, drooling messes, the Elders learned what they needed. The survivors barely made it back in time to Avestra when the Elders came in full force. The rest of the Harengon people realized what had happened and this time, they would not stand idly by as their kin were threatened once again. But even as they fought the Elders and their aberrations, it would never truly pull away the guilt they felt.
Centuries later, Harengon still explore relentlessly, wanting to see what other sights the planes have. But they are tempered now, thinking before they act. Whether it was their fault or not, some Harengon blame themselves for the Elders targeting Avestra and will do whatever it takes to make sure their homeland stays safe. That goal is what gives them hope that the answer they seek is out there. And some even turn their eyes towards Aeternum, the mysterious realm of the Eternals, so close to Avestra and yet so far out of reach.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Harengon and the other Feyborn races all get along together quite well. The Elves and Harengon are fast friends thanks to their escape together as reincarnations of the first exiles feel fond influences from their past memories about these rabbitfolk. While some Alomri still dislike them staying out of the feud between them and the Fey, most are willing to overlook it as the two chaotic species can get up to all manners of mischief together. The Lunari, often seen as the serious bunch of Faenum, also get the Harengon well, though they are quick to lecture or stop them from doing pranks and other acts that would stir up trouble.
