Arakaki Isamu

Wildwraith; Archon of Tranquility
"Seems like the Conflictions are getting worse and worse out here on the frontier, though. Critters like this were just myths when I was a kid... but oh well. Just means more legendary battles for me!"
Isamu was a playable character in Wraiths. He was an Akagawan human born under Eldnyng's season, and was the father of Aimi and Katsuo (with Kimiko). Though he was originally a mercenary who hated the lack of freedom in the military, he was urged on by an unknown spirit to help the other Wraiths in their quest and even became a consort of the Empress and achieved the highest rank in the Blades of Tranquility.

Profile

  • Optimistic, brave, honorable, charming
  • Hot-headed, quick to come to conclusions, gullible, provoker, flirtatious, crass
  • He needed a place to settle down and a good stable job where he was accepted.
  • He wanted freedom and to enjoy life in the moment.
  • He often clashed with the militia and any high-ranking officials, and didn't work well with others due to his insecurities.
  • He was a famous mercenary before the start of Wraiths.
  • He enjoyed his reputation for being able to take down the most dangerous of monsters alone.
  • Rumors say that when he wasn't trying to smooth-talk women, he enjoyed studying the sea and old naval charts.
  • Secretly, he was afraid of romantic intimacy and actually being loved.
  • His deific weapon was the Thorned Cutlass.

Notes

Isamu was an unusual consort for an Empress given his lowly upbringing, but the two of them loved each other dearly.   He originally hated how Akio had a stick up his ass and did his best to goad him into fights, but eventually saw him for who he was and thought of him as a brother up until the Great Tragedy when they killed each other.   In Japanese, 勇 (isamu) means courage; bravery.   His tarot card, the Emperor symbolizes authority; structure; control; fatherhood and, if reversed, tyranny; rigidity; coldness.
