Kasai Akio

Champion of Consecra; High Warlord; Bloodwraith
"Can't just let me live in peace, can you, Consecra?"
"You'd do well to watch your tongue, boy."
Akio is a playable character in Wraiths. He was an Akagawan human born under Consecra's season, and was the father of Fang (with Xiuying) and the Kasai twins (with Kimiko ). As the son of Akagawa's High Warlord (eventually assuming the position himself) and a Champion of Consecra, he spent his days rigorously serving his country as a Blade of Tranquility until his Confliction led to his demise in the Great Tragedy.

Profile

  • Polite, disciplined, analytical.
  • Shy, overly cautious, unambitious.
  • He wished for a world where everyone could be free from the influence of divinity.
  • He desired simply to fulfill his duties as quietly and appropriately as possible, so as to not attract more attention than needed.
  • Did not get along with extroverted, loud, brash people.
  • As a Champion and High Warlord, he coordinated most of Akagawa's  military and territory and performed occasional religious duties.
  • He absolutely hated the attention.
  • Rumors said that he enjoyed studying ancient history and would occasionally consult with Fastid as one of the Great Wolf's rare guests. He was also ironically afraid of cats.
  • Secretly, he absolutely despised Consecra for her bloodthirsty attempts to control him and for the fact that the people accredited all his good deeds to her. However, he kept this to himself to avoid upsetting the stability of Akagawa.
  • He wielded both Divine Fangs of Consecra as his deific weapons.
  • His speech patterns tended to be awkward or overly technical.

Notes

Akio distrusted Hitomi  from the moment he met her, and killed her violently after seeing her Conflicted form holding the limp body of his child, Fang.   Although he was expected to hate Taiys due to the animosities between their people, he found a kinship in their shared rejection of their people's typical zealous beliefs.   He and Isamu were infamous for how often they would butt heads, and Akio initially thought very poorly of him, though Isamu grew to be a man that Akio trusted above all others. Though they came to kill each other, Akio was happy that they could at least die together.   His romance with Xiuying was a highly guarded secret due to their influential positions in opposing kingdoms.   He and Kimiko were childhood friends, both born in the palace with a great weight on their shoulders. Despite this, they never developed romantic feelings for each other; although tradition demanded that Akio be the Empress's consort, she knew of his love for Xiuying and even encouraged it, just as he encouraged her to pursue Isamu.   As a deceased Champion of Consecra, his spirit now fights in the Eternal Battlefield with her and Ammayn.   In Japanese, 昭雄 (akio) means bright; hero.   His tarot card, the Chariot, means direction; control; willpower and, if reversed, lack of control; lack of direction; aggression.   His favorite flowers, the red spider lily and azalea, mean never to meet again; abandonment and patient; modest.
