Great Leviathan Bearing Stone

The Great Leviathan Bearing Stone is an enchanted compass created by Nabat of the Prophets of Regression in the Fifth Age.   It is magically linked to the Great Leviathan; the Bearing Stone continually points towards its location.

Description

The Bearing Stone is a blue-tinted, semi-translucent orb about six to eight inches in diameter. There are multiple thin bands of gold wound around it, which connect to two spike-like protrusions on the poles of the orb. These nodes hum with faint energy. Within the center of the sphere is a yellow, arrow-like gem which points like a compass.   The gem in the center points in the direction of the Great Leviathan while the Bearing Stone and the Great Leviathan are on the same plane of existence. If they are not both on the same plane, the gem becomes static until that changes.   The exact process Nabat used to create the Bearing Stone is not known. However, the Lightbringers found several items nearby the spell circle at the Chamber of Titles, which appeared to be needed for the process.   There was a large amount of arcane oils and incense, as well as a satchel of the rare panacea leaf. The spell circle seemed to require two sacrifices, and key to the ritual was the energy found within the Unsigned Paintings of the Great Beasts.

History

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
Before mid-Jeran 5A 351, the Prophets of Regression used the Unsigned Painting of the Great Leviathan to craft the Bearing Stone. The process involved a spell circle at the Chamber of Titles, magical ingredients including panacea leaves, and two sacrifices.   Using the Bearing Stone, the Prophets followed its direction northwards to the Leviathan Sea.   In mid-Jeran 5A 351, the Prophets found and defeated the Great Leviathan.   In the late evening of 16 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers found the Bearing Stone in the Chamber of Titles.
