Leviathan Sea

The Leviathan Sea is a major body of water of Azimuth. Many major ports are on the Leviathan Sea which rely on its many resources and trade routes. It is named after the Great Leviathan, one of the Four Great Beasts that is said to patrol these waters.

Description

The waters of the Leviathan Sea are somewhat calm and predictable, but are subject to the same storms and perils of the greater Azimuth Ocean. Trade routes in the Leviathan Sea are under threat from harpies, sharks, and other creatures, as well as the looming threat of the rumored Great Leviathan. Many ships that are lost in this sea are said to have been claimed by the Leviathan. The Leviathan Sea connects to the Azimuth Ocean to the southeast, the Black Sail Sea to the northeast, the Hazy Ice Sea to the northwest, and the Seafoam Sea to the west. It is bordered by the Kingdom of Endor to the east, the Santeem Republic to the north, the Seaward Isles to the west, and the Queendom of Keeleon to the south.

History

The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia

At the end of the Great War, a massive fleet of the world's armies sailed across the Leviathan Sea towards the lands of Tarteria. This fleet would land and begin the battle that would become known as the Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes.

The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow

During their journey, the Zenethian Heroes would cross the Leviathan Sea many times in 4A 995 to 4A 996. In 4A 996, the vessel under the command of Petra D'Silva, Emissary of Beasts and the vessel she was pursuing would both be sunk in the Leviathan Sea. Petra was rescued by the Zenethian Heroes, and together they fought and defeated the Leviathan, sending it retreating to the sea depths.

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings

5A 351
In mid Jeran 5A 351, the Prophets of Regression battled and defeated the Great Leviathan in the sea north of Tarteria. Witnesses spoke of strong elemental spells in the region before the waters went silent and calm. 5A 352
On 9 Madaet 5A 352, the Provideniye set sail from Endor Port out through the Dragon's Maw and into the Leviathan Sea. It would arrive at Port Surene on 23 Madaet 5A 352. On 25 Madaet 5A 352, the Provideniye departed Port Surene southwards into the Leviathan Sea. On 29 Madaet 5A 352, the Provideniye rounded Rune Pike, where her crew encountered the Testudo under attack by a flock of harpies. The Provideniye moved to assist. After the battle, she continued sailing south. On 1 Adroth 5A 352, the Provideniye arrived at Porgorag in the continent of Tarteria.
