Monastery of the World Tree
The Monastery of the World Tree is an elven settlement at the base of the World Tree. It is a protected place and the operational base of the Sacred Guardians. It is in the Valley of the World Tree on the continent of Haradren Gaer Arnad.
Description
At the base of the World Tree is a small settlement of elves. It is primarily the base of operations of the Sacred Guardians and is where the elders of that order gather. Since the rebuilding of the Monastery after the original city's destruction in the Third Age, a small city has slowly developed.Society
Demographics
The Monastery is a small settlement of exclusively elves. Long-standing laws of Soretta, the Undying Aristocracy, prevent other races from entering the Valley of the World Tree. Both high elves and wood elves reside here, and some half elves can be found as well.Notable People

The First Age: The Age of Creations
A great city of the elves was formed at the base of the World Tree.The Second Age: The Age of the Severance
It is said the ancient order of the Sacred Guardians was formed in the wake of the Severance by elves that swore their lives to the protection of the World Tree after the loss of the first gods. The original hall of the Sacred Guardians was constructed during this time.The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia
In the middle of the Third Age, Esturk, The World's End, attacked Azimuth. His ire was focused on the three holy places of the world, and Esturk brought fire and fury to the World Tree. Great swathes of the branches and leaves burned in dark divine fire and segments were warped into iridescent glass. Many elves of Haradren were slain in the fighting, and the first city of the elves at the base of the tree was lost. At some point after this, in the ruins of the lost city, Caran Nimlo'than, the Hall of the Sacred Guardians, was rebuilt. Over the next centuries, a town would slowly develop around it.The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
In 4A 995, the Zenethian Heroes came to the Monastery of the World Tree on their quest to gather the lost Zenethian Items. The Heroes battled through the Sacred Guardians who attempted to stop them and fought their way to the World Tree and ascended its boughs. After they emerged from within the tree, the Heroes were swiftly arrested by Sacred Guardian Quarivon and a unit of Sacred Guardians, including Ilmendwyth. The Heroes were brought back down from the tree to the town of the Monastery, where they first met Aoth Stormwind, before they were brought to the west.The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
At some point before 23 Madaet 5A 352, Ilmendwyth left the Monastery at the urging of Sacred Guardian Quarivon to investigate the spread of corruption in Tarteria.
