Rahinan

Demographics

Rahinan consisted of 80% dragonborn, with the remaining 20% being from other close Zakharan cities.
Most people in Rahinan work as scholars and astronomers, as Rahinan has always been connected to the skies, both spiritually and mentally. The stars always showed them their futures and where to look for what they seek.
The Rahi were also great scholars and cartographers, mainly for land masses rather than seas, but they were still used as envoys and emissaries for many kingdoms and cities across the continent and beyond.
Most people in Rahinan live modest and comfortable lives, as even the most unskilled Rahi will still be utilized by their city in one way or another, as the government tries to use its entire population by giving them jobs no matter their skill level. This is part of their ever evolving mantra of "Anyone can achieve, and every Rahi will".

Government

Rahinan has two main governments, the city is ruled by the dragon Rihaq, and he has selected the Eelrād family to be his ruling family, taking care of the day to day jobs, while Rihaq serves as a protector to the city, in addition to providing warmth in the winter with his super-heated air breath weapon, utilizing the wind ducts and tunnels of the city. Rihaq also used to assist incoming travelers during sandstorms, clearing the sand and providing a safe path, however Rihaq hasn't interacted with the general population in a few years, causing some concern, the royal family have reassured the public that Rihaq is well and will be emerging once more very soon.
The central government of Rahinan has always been in a weird spot, but since the year 954 the government has been shaken in more ways than one. With the death of the previous king, his only son, Jād Eelrād, assumed the throne. Unfortunately, Jād Eelrād tried for years to bare children, but his eggs have never hatched. His brother was on the council of Zakhara until his banishment in the year 976. Since then, Jād Eelrād had to go to take over the seat on the council as he didn't have any close relatives that he trusted enough to take that position. This spread him too thin, as he tried to work on the council and his city at the same time. In the year 981, Jād Eelrād nominated his third cousin (Kilta'n Eelrād) to take over for him in Rahinan, she has done a great job but has slowly stepped away from the recommendations of Jād Eelrād.
Some would say the new leadership is better and others might say its more harsh, but it is a fact that the productivity in Rahinan has skyrocketed under the rule of Kilta'n.
Jād Eelrād still had multiple envoys and ears on the council of Kilta'n, as the council still has a lot of power in the city.
The council mainly takes care of the daily tasks of Rahinan, like making sure citizens are doing their jobs properly and paying their taxes on time.
Crime rates are low due to the ease of access and entry into jobs, but there has been an increase of illegal trade in the black markets of Rahinan.

Infrastructure

The stones and sands of Rahinan have unique geological features and captivating natural beauty. They are known for their stunning rock formations, including towering sandstone cliffs, caverns and intricately wind shaped boulders.
The stones display a remarkable range of colors, from deep reds and oranges to pale yellows and whites, creating a visually striking landscape. These rocks often reveal layers of sedimentary deposits, providing a glimpse into the region's geological history.
The sands are predominantly composed of fine-grained particles, this creates large and vast stretches of golden dunes that extend as far as the eye can see. These dunes form intricate patterns and undulations, sculpted by the constant movement of the wind. Solar rays and patterns affect the sand dunes, causing them to follow and meander with the star constellations.
Being in the center of the continent, Rahinan had no direct access to the sea, this made it difficult for them to communicate or have relationships with far away cities. However, their connections with the Zakharan cities has made them one of the important cities in the region. Underwater caves are abundant in Rahinan, but the soil and climate make it near impossible for most flora to thrive.
Due to the extreme heat and hot air, most of Rahinan exists within caverns and caves, with ergonomic wind tunnels that redistribute the air, removing the hot air into a chamber to be used as fuel for the industrial districts, while the cool air is recycled around the city to cool its citizens.
Rahinan also recycles its waters, with sewage water being cleansed and used as fertilizer for the limited plants that grow here.
Rahinan has also achieved a thaumaturgical innovation, as they use solar rays to power up many parts of the city.

Natural Resources

Luminastrum Crystals: Theorized to be holding the essence of celestial winds, the crystals translucent surfaces ripple with star-like patterns. When placed in wind tunnels, they purify air and regulate temperatures. The crystals can also be powdered, in this form they are used as an astral substance, capable of transporting objects into the astral plane for some time. The crystals are also used in reading the constellations, but the Rahi have a special connection with these crystals, being born in them and around them, they are capable in transforming more than mundane items with these crytals. Many citizens are also capable of looking into the past with these crystals, some say the creation of the crystals came from the first dragon that claimed Rahinan, as it fought a dozen other dragons to claim the land as its nest, the dragon was called Rahinan.
