Íhin Island2 or simply Íhin is the largest island off the coast of the Southlands, located a short distance northwest of Þöton Peninsula in the eastern part of the continent. It's ruled by the elven republic of New Þamta, forming the northwestern province of Danþón centered on the city of New Ejar. Most of the inhabitants are Þamtans, along with a significant minority of Þjaric Elves and -to lesser extent- Þiðans.
The island is a popular vacation spot for new þamtans as an alternative to traveling abroad during the summer, due to the mild climate there and -for the older older generation- association with romance and adventure, popularized by the romantic film Ljúkep Kóþiril sa Íhin, starring Vef Þirmon and Feþúma Tiðilei.

Geography
The island has two mountain ranges, namely the Zivep Mountains in the center and the lower Leipas Mountains to the southwest which run parallel to the former. The fertile southern lowlands are home to the majority of the population, while the region north of the mountains sparsely inhabited, dotted only with remote fishing villages and farms due to only a handful of rivers flowing through that region and being exposed to storms from the sea. The northeastern tip of Íhin has traditionally been set aside for arcolatrists to practice their initiation rituals in peace, much like parts the province of Hirilkep on the mainland.
A number of summer residences owned by celebrities and other wealthy individuals are located in the Leipas Mountains, mostly due to the stunning views and proximity to the port town of Olkir to the south.
Íhin's longest river is Jólías to the southeast, upon which New-Ejar is located.

Fauna & Flora
The native fauna of Íhin Island is mostly the same as that on the northern Þöton Peninsula and surrounding subantarctic region, mostly characterized by Amphitheres and several species of seals and seabirds, while the flora includes a number of endemic species are found there due to the relatively warmer climate there compared to the mainland. Some of these plants have been incorporated into the local cuisine, most notably lót scurvy-grass and certain herbs.
History
While early Goblins and other goblinids as well as Trolls inhabited the Þöton Peninsula long ago, before the Southlands and Örkraz split, they never reached Íhin, and thus the first people to set foot on it were þamtans, specifically the explorer Olk and his crew, traditionally around where the modern town of Olkir is now located.
Þamta established the colony of Danþón on the island, which later became an independent country like neighbouring New Þamta on the mainland. The two formed a military alliance during the Kvaralean Wars, which eventually lead to Danþón becoming a province of New Þamta.
