The Kvaralean Wars1 or The Þötonic Wars were a series of armed conflicts on the Þöton Peninsula in the eastern Southlands from 76-60 BF, with the main belligerents being the forces of Anþ'ei, Danþón, New Þamta and Kröþa. Fought primarily in or near the edge of the Kvaral Marsh, they were the culmination of ancient rivalries between Kröþa and New Þamta in particular, which had only intensified following their independence from Ama and Þamta, respectively.
Most battles took place on land, save for two major naval ones near Nogðó (now Nomþó) and New-Hlehen. Both Kröþans and their opponents suffered heavy losses, with significant number of deaths being caused by weather and wildlife rather than warfare. The First Kvaralean War was fought between a coalition of New Þamta and Danþón on one hand and Kröþa on the other, with Anþ'ei remaining neutral throughout the conflict. It lasted from 76-73 BF.
The Second Kvaralean War began with kröþan forces invading Anþ'ei in 69 BF and ended the following year after the anþ'eians managed to drive them out with the help of the new þamtans.
The Third Kvaralean War was fought between Kröþa and an invading coalition of New Þamta and Anþ'ei in 66 BF, which lasted until a peace treaty was signed in 60 BF.
Small skirmishes occurred on the edge of the Kvaral Marsh for some years after the war ended, but otherwise things have been peaceful since then.

Historical Significance
Legacy
The fact that many were lost in the Kvaral Marsh due to weather conditions, drowning or attacks by Marsh Stalkers has shaped the opposing factions' views on the region. New þamtans and þiðans regard the marsh as a savage, haunted place, while many kröþans see these losses a necessary evil as sacrifices to the spirits of the land for disturbing them.
In Literature
Over the last century, a number of bio- and autobiographies, historical fiction and textbooks have been written about the Kvaralean Wars, some of which have been adapted into plays, TV series and films. Notable examples of the latter include the new þamtan film Edahen starring Vef Þirmon and the kröþan series An Óhlat Krírkon, Kröþa's most expensive show to date.
