Human

Humans are the most populous ancestry in the world. They or the many half-humans of the world make up the majority of the population in most places. However, there is no surviving story – those few that remain – of a human or humans before the end of the Void Cycle, and any other tale of their origin hasn’t been fully accepted. As a whole, humans are shorter-lived than most other ancestries, but hold as much if not more potential and adaptability in their lives than those with longer lifespans, though some would debate this fact. Humans come in all shapes, sizes, and skin tones and can range anywhere from 4’10” to 6’6” in height, though there are some exceptions.

Harental: Imperial Humans

In the Aestaran Empire, growing belief over the last several decades has made humans be seen as the dominant race, not just population-wise, but politically and ideologically. A religious movement has begun with a reemerging god at its head. Dimdall, Father of Humanity, the First Human, has overtaken the Imperial Pantheon in Aestara and is actively being spread by the Bright Ministry, the Imperial bureaucracy. That alongside the events of the civil strife nearly 50 years ago - when non-humans and those with arcane talent were hunted – has strengthened the standing of humans above other ancestries. Specifically pureblooded humans.

Binordheim: Nordic Humans

The attitude toward humans in Binordheim depends greatly on where they live. Most of Binordheim’s population, like most places in the world, is dominated by humans or half-humans. However, this was not always the case. A great deal of humans did live in Binordheim, but most were brought there as thralls or traveled there as settlers. It was not until just over 600 years ago, when the sacred tree Sarendril was wounded by the God-King Rainer Norgaarde, that the population of the original ancestry of the Nords, the Askarn, began to dwindle. Since that time, Askarn have begun giving birth to humans. This was a rarity at first, but over the course of the next several centuries Askarn-born humans have become the norm. At first this was seen as a curse by the gods, to some it still is, but in most clans humans are fully accepted to be the norm with the occasional Askarn being seen by some as a blessing or a piece of their sagas come to life.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Humans are the race most able to successfully reproduce with other races. While elves and dwarves, in the extremely rare case that they couple, would likely not find the ability to have children without the use of magic, humans have no such issue so long as their biology is compatible.

Ecology and Habitats

Humans are the most adaptable ancestry of humanoid on the world and as such can be found practically anywhere.

Civilization and Culture

History

Humans, according to all surviving records, appeared only after the Void Aeon following the imprisonment of Tharizdun and the creation of the Outer Gate. The elves of Eldaria claim that humans were a creation of their making through the splicing of various humanoids. Humans of Aestara claim that the first human was made from the World itself and they, with their partner, fathered humanity before they ascended to godhood only to be locked away by the other gods out of jealousy. Regardless of the true origin of humans, the first histories of them on Eldaria (now Harental and Tol'galen) are as captives used by the elves while small kingdoms rose across the sea in Lithria and possibly further away. The fall of the elves following the Sundering of Eldaria led to the advancement of the human race on a grand scale and they have become the most populous humanoid species in Glan'Amar.
