Wumtyx
The Judge of All
The initial civilizations were initially mostly tightly knit communities, relying on each other to maintain order and keep each other safe. But when the first cities formed it proved quickly that this deeply personal system would not work. Far to the North-west prospering civilizations, now long lost to time had arisen, having mastered the art of law-making, and from their mostly lost pantheon, the being Wumtyx embodied this art. When the other civilizations arose and started writing their own laws the dormant shape of Wumtyx gained strength, and once more claimed his place among gods, explaining his outlandish depiction.
Wumtyx embodies both the making of laws and the enforcing hereof. As such he is closely tied to the judicial system but is only worshipped in societies that have a need for written laws. Wumtyx sometimes comes to those who are in charge of creating laws and instill them with the ability to properly word the laws according to their wishes, ensuring that these laws are watertight, which includes everything from obscure clauses and the appropriate repercussions for breaking these laws.
The faith: The Judges of Wumtyx
Those that follow the teachings of Wumtyx devote their lives to the law, by creating it, abiding by it an enforcing it. As such there are three distinct subdivisions among Wumtyx' devotees:- The Lawmakers: These are the devotees who write the law, archive the written laws, and serve as representatives of the law when a dispute arises.
- The Judges: These are the devotees who interpret the laws, make rulings which ones are enforced, and judge perpetrators when these laws are broken.
- The Enforcers: These are devotees who enforce the laws, assisting the local law enforcement, and completing tasks they can't. These enforcers are often well-equipped and with the support of the local authorities, not many of their quarries manage to outrun them. When these enforcers manage to catch up with their quarry, they attempt to apprehend them if possible, but they won't hold back if more direct manners are required.
Shrines to Wumtyx
These large buildings are often made out of finely hewn grey stone. These buildings wherever they're present serve as court buildings, segmented in three parts: the library of Laws, where the Lawmakers store the written laws, the Courtrooms, where the Judges speak their verdict, and the Barracks, where the Enforcers recuperate in between their duties. Religious services are performed at the largest of these courtrooms.Quests of the Faith
When an especially devious legal case arises, Wumtyx might choose a single devotee who becomes singley respocible for investigating the case, felling a correct verdict and ensure the sentience is carried out.
