Aerbright Downtown

Aerbright Old Town. As city became older and larger, this district became larger and denser. Efforts to preserve traditional architecture were non-existent until middle of the century, so now streets are the eclectic mix of different styles and sizes. In the 40s several parks were cleared in place of several especially dilapidated blocks to keep overall population density manageable. A commendable initiative, absolutely negated decades later by construction of several megastructures.   All roads cross here, which is why everything of importance for Aerbright or Seven Cities in general is here or nearby. Which is why everybody wants to live here, and they do. 2075 UMA study found that district is populated to 180% percent capacity, which overloads city infrastructure, public transport, and citizens themselves. There is a stereotype that Downtown residents are permanently pissed off - and many would agree. But despite draconian property taxes, high rent, noise of overcrowded streets, bad traffic and frantic life, the neighborhood is still prestigious. Of course, there is a huge internal disparity between parts of Downtown in terms of prestige - central or north-west downtowner will never consider south-easterner their equal. Still, it's better than living in Washington.
