Faith of the Seven Moons

From time out of memory, the destiny of the Dawn Lands has been shaped and guided by a pantheon of deities. Not simply distant, disinterested creators, these gods and goddesses hold sway over human endeavors, natural forces, and magical powers, each maintaining their own unique domains and characteristics.   The faith of the Seven Moons is, as its name suggests, closely tied to the seven moons which illuminate the night sky of Shiandria (which is the name of the planet that the continents, including the Dawn Lands resides on). Each moon is said to be one of the physical manifestations of a god, made visible to the faithful as both encouragement and clear reminder of the gods’ involvement.   At the heart of this divine assembly stands Ranessa, the Mother of All. She is the primal goddess of growth, sacrifice, motherhood, and birth. Her connection to blood symbolizes the life force that courses through all living beings. The largest red moon in the sky, a celestial embodiment of her power, represents her watchful presence over creation. Not only is Ranessa the Mother of All, goddess of birth and creation, but she is also the mother of the other gods. Powerful enough in her own right to conceive and birth without need of a mate, it is said that Renessa created her children through deep sacrifice, offering up her own flesh and vitality to fuel the fires of creation.   Throughout the eons, the deities of the Dawn Lands have woven their stories into the tapestry of reality, shaping the destinies of mortals and leaving an indelible mark on the world they govern. In times of both triumph and tribulation, the people of the realm seek the guidance and favor of these powerful beings, ever mindful of the delicate balance between light and darkness that defines their existence.

Demography and Population

The religion of the 7 moons is mostly followed in the central part of the Continent, in the area of the plans and the eastern seaboard (usually known as the “Dawn Lands' '). But some Dwarves in the lower hills of the Dwarven Mountain range of the north and even a small bit of Remans follow this religion. The Elves respect the deities of the seven moons as something otherworldly.  The smallfolk give them reverence when needed but their worship of them is as fickle as their own whimes.
