Physical Description

Specialized Equipment

A poisoner’s kit is a favored resource for thieves, assassins, and others who engage in skulduggery. It allows you to apply poisons and create them from various materials. Your knowledge of poisons also helps you treat them.

Components

A poisoner’s kit includes glass vials, a mortar and pestle, chemicals, and a glass stirring rod.

History

Your training with poisons can help you when you try to recall facts about infamous poisonings.

Investigation, Perception

Your knowledge of poisons has taught you to handle those substances carefully, giving you an edge when you inspect poisoned objects or try to extract clues from events that involve poison.

Medicine

When you treat the victim of a poison, your knowledge grants you added insight into how to provide the best care to your patient.

Nature, Survival

Working with poisons enables you to acquire lore about which plants and animals are poisonous.

Handle Poison

Your proficiency allows you to handle and apply a poison without risk of exposing yourself to its effects.

Combine Rifle

Cost 250 credits, weighs 12# This advanced version of the basic shooter, the combine weapon operates nearly identically, save for a single noteworthy improvement. Someone trained in the dark can alter the energy of the weapon to focus her unique set of skills.

Alter

As a bonus action, you can alter the damage type of this weapon to match that of any spell you can cast.

Damage

1d8 force (default Range. 150/500; Properties.

Reload (15-vessel)

Infuse

Instead of utilizing the base damage type and attack, you can pull dark from the weapon’s vessel to cast any spell you have in your river that requires a ranged spell attack. The original spell’s range (regardless if it has one) changes to the weapon’s. The energy must be able to take all of its dark from the weapon—it cannot be combined with your own. Despite the weapon casting a spell you possess, the dark within the weapon need not be your own.

Spell Conduit

Any spell you cast requiring a ranged spell attack can be fired from this weapon; the spell takes on the weapon’s range, and weapon assumes all vocal and somatic requirements.

Kind of Magic (6th level)

This weapon gains the Armor Piercing property.

Type

Two-handed small arm.

Fatal Volley

Cost 5,000 credits. Weighs 4# Those focused in the field of necromancy love instilling their bleak ideology in their weapons. Firearms were an evident evolution from soul-stealing swords. The Fatal Volley was one of the first attempts to tap the forces of death. This weapon fires pulses of necrotic energy that draw the life from victims to resupply its own ammunition. Oh, and it can also raise the dead.

Damage 1d6 necrotic; Range. 100/300; Properties. Reload (12-special). Type: One-handed small arm.

Extract

Each time you hit with this weapon, as a free action, you can recover 1 hit point, or the weapon can recover 2 shots. As a bonus action, you can suffer damage to reload the weapon at a ratio of 1:1.

Rise

If you kill a living (non-construct) target with this weapon, at the beginning of your next turn, the creature rises as a zombie and serves whoever wields this weapon (unless the weapon has been dropped, in which case, it will attack anything living it encounters). After 48 hours, the zombie falls apart.

Necrotic Energy (6th level)

This weapon gains the Armor Piercing property.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tragedy: Illness

They cannot fully recover from their condition and must manage it with medication. If properly dosed, no one notices their situation. If they are denied their treatment, they do not recover any Hit Dice after a long rest.   Klinefelter Syndrome Klinefelter Syndrome (47, XXY) is a chromosomal variation in males in which one extra X chromosome is present, resulting in a 47,XXY karyotype. The extra X chromosome typically affects physical, neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and neurocognitive functioning. Common physical features may include tall stature, reduced muscle tone, small testes (hypogonadism), delayed pubertal development and lack of secondary male sex characteristics such as decreased facial and body hair. Increased breast growth (gynecomastia) may occur later in puberty without appropriate biological care. With proper treatment, the incidence of gynecomastia typically occurs in less than 10% of boys with 47,XXY (KS).   There is great variability to the neurodevelopmental profile or phenotype in boys with 47,XXY (KS). Common cognitive and behavioral features may include speech and language delays, ADHD and emotional and social functioning challenges. The features of 47, XXY (KS) are typically associated with decreased testosterone level and elevated gonadotropin levels. Early hormonal treatment (EHT) with three monthly injections of 25 mg of testosterone enanthate, typically given between 4-12 months of age, may optimize brain development and neurodevelopmental outcomes.   Due to the Klinefelter Syndrome, they have developed type 2 diabetes and require insuling injections to maintain their health. They must take their insulin twice a day to keep their blood sugars well comntrolled.

Friendship

They are socially akward and have a difficult time making and keeping friendships. They have a difficult time reading body language. They tend to distrust others as they have had the experience of many people not treating them well. This was a major motivation for them seeking power. Because of all of this, the one good friendship (with Vishu) that they have is very important to them and they would never do anything to betray that friendship.

Romance

They know their duty and have done their best to provide children so that their ability to use the Dark will be passed on to another generation, but they have not been able to have children. They married Nogu as a political alliance with both understanding that there was value in having them bound together.

Windfall: Education Grant

People believe they're smart and threw money their way to develop their skills further. This is how they could afford to attend The Fabrigia Institute and learned the mastery of the Dark.

Background: Necromancer

They were born and raised in Necropolis, beginning their alliegance with the Necromancers when they were young.   They are a member of a teeming horde — one small part of a sprawling organism. Just as they are part of the swarm, the swarm is part of a larger ecosystem, a never-ending cycle of life, death, rot, and rebirth. They have spent their life in the slow churn of that ecosystem, in the dark places of the world where the messy parts of existence are on display. There is little squeamishness among the Necromancers, no fear of death or taboo about the dead, just a fierce affirmation of the cycle.
  • Skill Proficiencies: Nature, Survival
  • Languages: Choose one (French)
  • Equipment: A Necromancer insignia, Posioner's kit, a Fire Beetle, a set of common clothes.
  • Tool Proficiency: Posioner's Kit

Feature: Undercity Paths

They know hidden, underground pathways that they can use to bypass crowds, obstacles, and observation as they move through Necropolis. When they aren’t in combat, they and companions they lead can travel between any two locations in the settlement twice as fast as their speed would normally allow. The paths of the undercity are haunted by dangers that rarely brave the light of the surface world, so their journey isn’t guaranteed to be safe.

Gender Identity

Agender: a person who has an internal sense of being neither male nor female nor some combination of male and female. They simply do not feel that the genders defined in society fit their personal lived experience.

Sexuality

Demisexual, meaning they only feel sexual attraction to someone after they've formed a strong emotional bond with them.

Education

They attended The Fabrigia Institute where they learned to control the Dark.

Employment

They have worked for the Necromancers faction since they joined them at a young age.

Mental Trauma

As a young child, they were found floating facedown in the Genesee river, moments from death. They do not know how old they were at the time, but they have no memories of their life prior to being found by Valli Bhumi Haught who gave them a new purpose by enrolling them in The Fabrigia Institute. Their experience of being resucitated by Valli haunts them in their dreams as vague impressions of the experience come back to them. The central theme of their memories of this event is a feeling that the Void was looming upon them and that the Dark was coursing through them. They will never know how much of their near death experience was real and how much was their brain struggling to comprehend the situation in a hypoxic state.

Valli saved Goronwy from the river and quickly discovered their potential with the Dark. Valli contacted people within The Fabrigia Institute to ensure that Goronwy was enrolled. While they are not close and do not often spend time together, this event has bonded them and created a loyalty to each other.

Biases

Positive Bias

They strongly perfer those that they preceive as being frank and honest with them, even if this means being in opposition to their goals, desires or preferences. They will use an insight check to the degree of honesty a person is using. Failing an insight check means that they will be unable to read the person's body language and will default to the assumption that people cannot be trusted. If a character is being honest and frank with them and they pass an insight check to know this then their positive bias will be triggered.

Negative Bias

They strongly dislike liars and dishonesty. They will disfavor anyone that is known to be a liar or caught lying to them.

Mannerisms

They tend to bare their teeth when they are thinking or casting magic. This is often seen as an aggressive gesture, but for them it is neutral and only indicates intense concentration.

They keep a as a pet.

Interaction Trait

Suspicious: openly distrustful and unwilling to confide.

Mount

They have a as a mount.

Thier Mechanical Homunculus takes the form of a .

Intellectual Characteristics

  • They like to remind people of their inevitable demise.
  • Faction. The Necromancer faction is all that really matters. (Any)
  • They are forever grateful to the Necromancer (Valli Bhumi Haught ) who found them floating facedown in the Genesee river, moments from death.
  • They are convinced that they are better and stronger than members of other factions, isolated as they are from the realities of life and death.
