Necromantic Caverns

Beneath Necropolis there is a vast network of caverns and tunnels that the Necromancers use. It is within these caverns that they perform their most sacred rites and conduct their research. 
They have sealed many of the passages leading into the undercity beneath Necropolis Proper, making their territory seem like an impregnable subterranean fortress. Within it, the Necropolis domain retains its grandeur, a mysterious and wondrous kingdom. The rare visitors who stumble into it are awed by its beauty and its aura of ancient power. Palatial architecture fills cavernous sewer chambers, and luminescent spores float through the air to shed an otherworldly light on the moss-covered masonry. Entering the Necromantic Caverns feels like stepping into a secret world of dangerous beauty.

Demographics

Only the Necromancers are allowed to enter the Caverns. However, there are also their test subjects and the things that they are growing. There is also the occasional visitor that gets lost and finds themselves in this rotting splendor. They enter in awe, but quickly come to regreat their trespass.

Defences

There are only a few entrances into the Caverns that can be reached through Necropolis Proper. Most of these are within the Necromancer District. The labyrinthine construction serves a greater defense then the lack of readily available entrances. Those who come here the first time without a guide are likely to never find their way out again. Everything of importance is kept deep within the Caverns and thus it is unlikely that someone trespassing here would ever find the Cavern's secrets. However, should someone find themselves in its depths, the strange creatures living here would likely cause their demise. Much of what is living in the Caverns is posionous and living off the decay.

Districts

There are no maps of the Necromantic Caverns and no names are given to the various region within it. Those who come here must memorize the routes through or become a permanent inhabitant. There are stories of students becoming lost and then becoming a living part of the Caverns.
