Lord Chancellor
Qualifications
He has to be highly educated and trusted by the King.
Requirements
The Lord Chancellor is often chosen amongst the King's entourage, which means being a noble is an implicit requirement.
Appointment
Someone is raised to this rank by the King during a special ceremony. It often happens at the beginning of the King's reign, when he chooses his entourage and council. However, if he wants to, he can change his Lord Chancellor at any time.
Duties
In theory, the Lord Chancellor has to take care of the realm and its people. He is supposed to make his decisions according to the greater good.
Responsibilities
He is responsible for most of the daily running of the kingdom, sometimes the real ruler of the country. He heads the
Great Council in the monarch's absence, sometimes acting as Regent when called upon. He will then be Lord Protector.
This Councillor is thus the second most powerful person in the Kingdom, which is why he has possession of the Great Seal of the Realm.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
He can only be dismissed by the King, generally when there is a breach of trust.
