Session 1: Welcome to Lima Report

General Summary

There is some animosity between Augustus Larkin's assistant/bodyguard Luis de Mendoza and Jackson Elias (who gave Larkin the fake name Jessie Hughes). It seems as though Augustus has lost a great deal of weight recently, as indicated by his baggy and ill-fitting suit.   Augustus's story seems to have some holes and inconsistencies. While Larkin seems to earnestly believe in the existence of the pyramid, his story about an alpaca farmer sharing a story and artifacts seems not entirely true. According to Jackson Elias, Larkin tried to get locals to join him, but no one was interested. That's when Larkin reached out to foreigners. Additionally, the two artifacts that Larkin showed the group are from clearly different sites and time periods, though he claims both were found at the pyramid.    Jackson Elias thinks that Augustus might be leading us into danger. He's also here to study some secret society/death cult stuff that the other two hosts may be a part of for a book he is writing. On top of that, he tells us of some folklore about a Kharisiri, a pale-faced creature that sucks fat off of people. He invites us to go talk with a professor the next day to gain some more information.   The professor is not thrilled by Augustus's "graverobbing" and such, so he seems to be working behind the scenes to try and find the site before Larkin does. He takes us to a lower level to introduce us to an undergraduate student helping him research the pyramid, Trinidad Rizo, who had a document of interest, but when we get there we seen Luis de Mendoza attacking Trinidad in his true monster form. He seemingly came back to life, leading Booker to cut off his head after killing him for the second time. The body was then burned in a lot next to the museum.   According to Trinidad's document, The Confessions of Gaspar Figueroa, a voice in the temple offered eternal life if he returned to the temple. The document also states that the conquistadors looted a section of decorative gold inlay from the temple wall before the curse. There was a golden artifact that burned Luis de Mendoza, even burning his dead body. The group took the artifact, a summary of a Conquistador's journey to the pyramid, and a hotel key found on de Mendoza's body with them and are on their way to the Hotel Espana, where Larkin and de Mendoza were staying.
