Van Richten Society

During his lifetime, Dr. Rudolph Van Richten studied and defeated many monsters, saved a great number of lives, and also lost many friends. But, through his journey, he also made a huge number of allies and admirers. After his presumed death, these allies kept his legacy alive, continuing his work through heroic deeds.   The Van Richten Society is not really a secret society, but several individuals inspired by the legendary figure. Many of them maintain correspondence with each other, established mostly (but not exclusively) in domains such as Mordent , Dementlieu, Richmolet, and Lamordia.

Benefits

Members of the Van Richten Society enjoy the following benefits:
Knowledge Exchange: Members of the Van Richten Society exchange letters with each other on every topic, from medicine to zombie lore. When needing to make an Intelligence check, a member can rummage through their letters and make an Intelligence (Investigation) Check at the same DC to succeed on this Check. You cannot use this ability more than once per session.   Research: Fellowship members can ask another member a favor to do research work for them.   Scholarship: Every Fellowship member gains proficiency in one of the following skills: Arcana, History, Nature, Religion, Medicine, or Survival.   Recommendations: Van Richten was highly regarded doctor in the Land of Mists. Members of the Society can ask for recommendations on good contacts to hire honest and competent people to perform errands (who to get armor from, where to buy an alchemical item, or who can provide a good coachman to perform a short wagon trip.)

Membership and Duties

Every member of the society exchanges letters with the others, sharing valuable information about how to confront creatures of darkness, magic items, secrets of the powerful and everything that may interest those who hunt monsters can and should be carried out. Furthermore, it is also expected that this knowledge will be used in combating the forces of evil.   The invitation to join the Society is given after the future member attracts the attention of one of the individuals belonging to the Van Richten Society with heroic acts or acts of great kindness, courage and generosity.
