Bulrilg Confederation

The Bulrilg Confederation is a confederation of numerous tribes in the north of Skortenia. The towns act in a relatively independent fashion, coming to one anothers' aid when the time requires.

Structure

Each tribe has one title that matters, chieftain. Chieftain - Responsible for overseeing disputes between the tribe members and day-today function. Heirs are elected from the current rulers children by the community.

Culture

The Bulrilg Confederation once subscribed to a dogma of warfare needing to be performed often, to please Tempus, though this has since been replaced with a much less subdued one following Helm. The people have become rather accepting to the presence of other races, though the presence of elves tends to cause a stir as a result of alliances with orcs.

Assets

The confederation has around 4,000 soldiers on the whole, though they are relatively spread out amongst each tribe, and remain unorganised.

History

The tribes of the Bulrilg have existed ever since the Decline ended, remnants of the Hakhrazian Hordes further east. The area was fertile and the land relatively tame from monstrous threats. The tribes still followed the teachings of Tempus common to Hakhraz, and found it pertinent to settle any disputes between tribes through honourable battle, which was the custom for roughly 600 years.   After the Sky-Watchers, an orc horde thousands strong started to emerge from the mountains in 1420, the leaders of each tribe came together and agreed to act as a single entity until either they all perished in honourable battle, or the orcs had done so. This precipitated the Final Orc War. Little combat came to Bulrilg early, with the splintered groups of Hakhrazians able to both damage and soften to oncoming blows the Five Tribes would eventually feel.   Once the smaller groups had been dispatched, the real fighting began. For a period of roughly 2 years, until Nightal 20 of 1422, fighting raged on. An agreement was made that day to have a child of a chief from both groups traded, and raised as they belonged to the other. After this period, the two children married, leading to peace between the two groups.

Demography and Population

Mixture of humans, half-orcs and orcs. More populous in the lower regions.

Military

Military is composed of tribal warriors, with nothing in the way of a formal army, at least any more that is. Tribal warriors are rewarded with supplies for their protection of the land, rather than formal payment of any sort.

Religion

  • Helm - primary deity of the region and official religion, though not always welcomed with open arms
  • Auril - the goddess of winters is worshipped out of fear more than anything else. Despite this, Rekadomoy does have one of the oldest churches dedicated to Auril around the world.

Foreign Relations

Allies
  • Hakhrazian Hordes - cordial relations, mainly stemming from the shared heritage of the two peoples.
  • Sky-Watchers - formal alliance, made after the Childhood Agreement
Enemies

Agriculture & Industry

Production varies on location.
  • Nyirdokolia Tribe - Timber and hunting
  • East - Husbandry, grain and farming
  • West - Mining, herbs and mushrooms
  • Central - Whaling, fishing, oyster diving and pearling
  • Central South -

Trade & Transport

Trade Each tribe sends a weekly collection of certain goods to Grazk by way of ship or caravan, which are filled up with goods from other settlements for the return journey.
Transport Small paths were formed for the purpose of trade, but never turned into formal roads. The growing importance of the tribal trade network has led to the need for proper paved roads, which are currently under construction from Grazk outwards.

Infrastructure

Limited roads stretch from Grazk outwards. Border outposts exist on the western border.

Through unity we grow strong.
