Tomb of the Elf Lords
The Tomb of the Elf Lords was created by powerful magic as the elves fled from the Feywild Collapse. Essentially, using a powerful feat of magic to remove a portion of the Feywild and place it in Emicara, the Tomb is the final resting place of millennia of elven kings, queens, and lords of shapes and sizes. The result is a labyrinth of burial sites, treasuries, and their guardians and traps. Although many of these tombs had originally been constructed in different places in the Feywild, they have been forced to inhabit a relatively small geographic area, and it is said that the rules of both time and space are bent to the point of breaking within.
Purpose / Function
The destruction of the Feywild would have led to the complete destruction of elf history and knowledge, if not for the efforts of their leaders and finest wizards. The varied tombs of the kings and lords of the Feywild were vast complexes, many of which were differing in size and scale, holding the treasures of their reigns. Powerful elf wizards had made their own similar tombs to protect their arcane learnings, which they protected viciously, even in death. The elves were unwilling to lose all of this to the Collapse. The wizards who survived used some of the most powerful magic available to create a ritual to move the combined tombs of their people into a single location in Emicara upon the Material Plane.
Alterations
Although all of the tombs arrived upon the Material Plane intact, the wizards were dismayed because they seemed to exist in a much smaller space than they should have. Expeditions immediately into the tomb reported that both time and space were condensed within the tombs, creating all sorts of strange effects and hazards, and over half of those who went in were lost to the tomb's insidious nature. The elves declared the tomb off-limits, even to their own kind, and established a watch post outside to make sure that if it were discovered, those who left the tomb would not survive to tell the tale. That has been an unnecessary order, because while many adventuring parties have stumbled upon this place over the centuries, or been sent by high elves in exile, none have ever survived to tell the tale.
