Able to take on a meditative state in which the caster can enter and explore Irkath's Plane, leaving their own body and seeming to astral project into the plane. It can be difficult to maneuver a mental plane, especially one as cryptic, vague and obtuse as this onee. Irkath doesn't like giving up hist secrets freely and enjoys riddles and difficult to decipher metaphors. Ghislaine is King Ambrose Syltharis's advisor and a key figure of the King's Shadows. Ghislaine originates from territories within the Tenebrous Chain. His rare racial magic was ill suited for fighting, so it was fortunate for him that he was a mage! After a pandemic took King Leofric's life and Ambrose began his reign as King, Ghislaine approached him with his visions. His advice brought success time and again during the campaign in Yaxiya, Ambrose growing to trust in Ghislaine. He eventually installed Ghislaine as his royal advisor. Ghislaine also fostered a fascination in Ambrose towards dark magic.
Ghislaine is a man who enjoys the power he wields and believes himself extremely clever. There is a mutual dislike between he and Martin Stahlmann but they at least respect the role and skills the other offers the kingdom. It is Ghislaine who dangles the possibility of immortality before Ambrose, dropping information about shape shifters and especially Zalikar, leading to the royal endorsement of the King's Shadows. Ghislaine serves as their Eye, one of five leaders within the organization alongside Martin who is their Blade.
Ghislaine's magic allows him to peek into Irkath's Plane, gleaning visions of lost or concealed knowledge. These are often cryptic, symbolic and vague visions. He is also able to see lies and deception as a kind of aura around people. He will occasionally make up visions to suit his own intentions but Ambrose fully buys into his magic, easily losing sight of logic after his predictions helped secure so may victories. Ambrose has come to value his wit, strategy and social cunning too. One of Ghislaine's common tactics is spreading or managing gossip amid the nobility, planting information with the right people or crushing rumors he finds detrimental. Since everyone views him as someone who can sniff out the truth, they are quick to believe or trust in his intel or even seek out his wisdom. He can be competitive for the king's trust, threatened by any who might steal his favor.

Appearance
Ghislaine is average height but is pallid, fat and grim--many mistake him for being sickly. He spends far too much time inside the castle, preferring dark places. He keeps his greasy black hair combed back and his age shows clearly on his face. A fake, duciplitous smile is his most common expression. His magic form leaves the entirety of his head bluish black, especially dark surrounding his bright blue eyes. When he uses his abilities, a black viscous fluid will emerge from his eyes like tears.

Background
Ghislaine was never well liked by his peers and there are those who still find him extremely creepy and unnerving. He spreads so many mistruths and gossip about himself to the point few know anything about him in reality. His family makes their home in the Tenebrous Chain and while his peers trained within the Accian Training Progam/Procession, he served as a mage. Even among other mages he was reclusive, capable of puppetry and illusionry. After service, Ghilsaine studied with a mysterious teacher until he was able to master his visions, carving out a place for himself as Amrbose's advisor using these skills!
