By and large, I'm drawing from early Renaissance Italy for my concept of the city states of this region, as well as my local forests and mountains here in coastal British Columbia for the natural world. I don't want to tie myself too tightly to a real city like Florence or Venice, but aspects of that sort of construction, as well as late medieval designs from the European continent will be the principle influence on my architecture. (Religious iconography, of course, will be significantly less uniform, as this period in European history is dominated by Christianity while my world is polytheistic.)
