Godsoul Shards

The Godsoul Shards are three extremely powerful soul gems, each containing a piece of a god's soul.

Description

All of the stones are visually very similar, differentiating only in size and exact shape. They all resemble regular soul gems, albiet larger and colored purple rather than orange. The base of the stone is white/clear quartz-type crystal, as with regular soul gems, and the purple coloration can be see swirling and surging within the crystal.

History

Creation

Though details are sparse, the Shards were first created as gifts for the Hanged King to show the support of the three gods who donated parts of their souls to them. United only by their desire to maintain the order of the planes, the three gods are ultimately the ones responsible for the Hanged King's power and his reappearance in the world of Estrodia.

The Death Stone

The first stone to be revealed in the current age was the Death Stone, uncovered by Team B in the ruined elven stronghold of Summerhall. The stone was buried along with a loyal knight of the Hanged King, and was worshipped by the cultists residing in Summerhall's dungeons. To placate the stone, the cultists kidnapped and murdered almost two dozen townspeople from nearby West Dale before being stopped by Team B. Afterwards, the Death Stone was in Team B's possession until they discovered its true purpose and nature, after which it was kept under guard in Solaris by Arvel Telavia.

The Asmodeus Stone

The second stone to appear was the Asmodeus Stone, held by the Ushanan minister Annaeleth Adaviel. The stone was delivered to Annaeleth when the New Moon appeared by parties unknown, and she acted as its guardian while enacting her plans to dethrone and execute Arvel Telavia. As a coniving and corrupt politician and noble, Annaeleth was an ideal guard for the stone, and kept it on her person at all times. When she was ultimately exposed by Team B and defeated by them, Annaeleth would be executed by the Hanged King, leaving the stone behind to be collected by Team B. It is currently in the possession of Arvel Telavia, along with the other stones in Solaris.

The Tyr Stone

The third and final stone to make itself known was the Tyr Stone, originally secured within the Crypt of The Vanishing Army. After being stolen by the Saffon twins, the two young rulers of Ostrad debated about how best to use it, and ended up fighting over the stone. Their fighting led to a small crack developing in the stone, after which the stone protected itself by freezing the entire city of Ostrad in time. After several weeks in this state, the stone was recovered by Team B in a fierce battle with Raeas, a knight of the Hanged King, and quickly extracted to Ushana, leaving Ostrad to be decimated by the Hadryan mercenaries who had bombarded it since the time shield went up.
