Mojave Rangers

The Mojave Rangers are a paramilitary group attached to the Free Economic Zone of the Mojave Military. Rangers act as both frontier lawmen, and special forces.    Founded in 2282 by the Courier, the group was formed out of the disbanded NCR Rangers, and frontiersmen from the Mojave Wasteland. These Rangers are dedicated to protecting the borders and frontiers of the FEZ, and do so mercilessly, especially against illegal poachers or smugglers from NCR. They are paid very well, which has caused a great deal of people attempting to join, but the recruitment process and training scrubs out about 95% of applicants.   The Mojave Rangers are considered the deadliest group in the Southwest, rivalled only by the New California Republic DEWARS and Caesar's Legion's Frumentarii.

Composition

Manpower

The Mojave Rangers have several hundred rangers across the Mojave Wasteland.

Equipment

Mojave Rangers use a wide variety of equipment, but rely heavily on combat Armor, desert camo fatigues, and survival packs.   Additionally rangers who serve for 10 years get the coveted Desert Veteran Armor, consisting of the famous duster and helm.

Weaponry

The Rangers rely on 3 major weapons, including the M23, the Ranger Sequoia, and the Anti-Material Rifle.

Vehicles

Vertibirds are often used as quick insertion vehicles for rangers, as well as for supply runs.

Structure

Rangers are lead by the Ranger Chief from Ranger Station Golf. The Chief coordinates between ranger stations, and reports to the Courier. From there the Ranger Station Commanders lead stations scattered across the frontier, each with around 30 rangers in them. Each Station has a Ranger Surgeon, Comms Officer, and Armorer. Each station also has at least five Ranger Veterans.

Tactics

Rangers employ guerrilla warfare, long range draws, and gruesome traps, both explosive and otherwise.

Training

Rangers are volunteer forces, and in order to be considered for training they must first trek through the desert, and reach Ranger Station Golf, where the training is held. From there they are put through rigorous training, including stretching a days worth of rations for three days, hunting, exploration, land navigation, and firearm handling. Training is highly irregular, and very brutal, with water and food earned by completing the day's courses. The final test for prospective rangers is being sent into the desert with Vertibirds watching the candidates. All they are given is their rifle and a flare gun, the latter of which can be used at any time to signal the watchers that they quit. Surviving a week earns the ranger their patch, which is worn with pride.
