Munasarja (Moon-ah-sar-jah)

Capital: Shookset   Languages: Grollgh, Alavin, Marathi   The nation of Munasarja has seen many changes since the War of Ascension and former king Orikan entering godhood. Near the end of the war the combined militaries of the nations that opposed Munasarja and Orikan marched on the former capital city Golindosh. The battle that ensued leveled the city and sent the people that had lived there scattering into the Arcane Mountains. With the destruction of the city also came the destruction of the original School of the Arcane and subsequent loss of centuries of arcane research.   Since the War of Ascension the nation of Munasarja has fought to rebuild their nation and return to their former position as the most powerful nation on the continent of Falandas. As part of this rebuilding the people of Munasarja abandoned the northern reaches of the nation and focused their efforts on strengthening the southern reaches. Shookset became the new capital city of the nation and quickly swelled in size from those displaced from the destroyed city of Golindosh. Taking advantage of the abandoned lands to the north a former Alivaran noble took those loyal to her and conquered the rubble that was once the capital of the nation of Munasarja without resistance.

Demography and Population

Population: 650,000 (45% Orc, 10% Elf, 10% Gnoll, 10% Gnoll, 5% Human, 4% Goblinoid, 4% Dragonborn, 2% Gnome, 10% Other)   The effects of war can be felt throughout the communities of Munasarja.  The War of Ascension ruined relations with many of their neighboring nations leaving the nation struggling to repair their reputation with their neighbors.  From the fractures of these relationships the people of Munasarja have become apprehensive of opening their communities to outsiders.  As a result of the growing tension in the larger population centers a number of villages have begun to form along the eastern and western borders.   In the northern range of the Arcane Mountains where the ruins of the city of Golindosh rest an invading army led by Emelisse of the Sea has defected from Alivara and claimed these northern realms as their own.  King Drage Hollingworth has kept a close watch on the developments of this area but understands that the current state of Munasarja prevents the King from resolving this matter at the present time.  As of now the orcs have surrendered this area beginning twenty miles south of Golindosh and reaching to the northern border of Alivara, and west to the Dragon Wastes.

Territories

The borders of Munasarja cuts through the heart of Falandas and consumes the majority of the Arcane Mountains.  In the southern lands of the nation extensive fields of fertile soil and beloved untamed rivers provide the people with not only food and products, but jobs and opportunities.  The rivers provide trade routes to the northern ranges of Munasarja as well as passing into Cultrius and cutting through the Arcane Mountains and reconnecting with the Afterlife River in eastern Falandas.  To the north the majority of the lands are made entirely of the Arcane Mountains.  These mountains have long had unexplainable storms filled with uncontrolled arcane energy.  With prevailing winds blowing to the east it has long been common for these storms to make their way over the nation of Naliph, and were a catalyst to the creation of the Sea of Glass during the War of Ascension.   Just off the southern shores of Munasarja sits a series of islands that cover a seven hundred miles stretch.  Deep within these islands are a number of well hidden and fortified pirate cities.  Though these islands fall under the claim of Munasarja the islands have long been an area of lawlessness and rebellion as the pirates who claim them have proven impossible to uproot.  Behind their leader, Admiral Silver Tongue, the pirates continue to be an ever present threat for merchant vessels who try to sail for the ports of Munasarja and Kukita.

Military

Elements of the Arcane play a strong role among the military of Munasarja.  Many soldiers receive minor training wielding spells to enhance their fighting prowess or to provide protection to their companions.  Those that show a particular affinity for both the sword and the spell are recruited to join the ranks of the Knights of Vinnguardia.  These specialized soldiers are also known as eldritch knights and are placed into roles that range form providing direct protection to the King to providing elite forces on the front lines of battle.   The Munsarjan navy has long been considered to be the strongest navy of the known world.  These vessels have allowed Munasarja to expand their reach and to expand the nation onto the far southern continent of Eolari.  In spite of their great might they continue to struggle to contain the pirate threat that remains ever present in the waters of the Vitalm Ocean.

Religion

King Hollingsworth has worked diligently to revise the influence on his people from religion.  Early in his reign the King ordered the destruction of all temples and shrines dedicated to Orikan.  In mountain villages these shrines have been replaced with temples to Monde, with temples of Soleil are erected in the more populated centers.  In each village, town, and city there is at a minimum a shrine to Cryil that posses as both a symbol of law and order, but also as a reminder to the people of Munasarja to honor one another.  Within the city of Shookset a prominent house of worship dedicated to Ilys was constructed within the last few years and has helped to greatly spread music and the arts throughout Munasarja.

Foreign Relations

Munasarja maintains a tenuous relationship with the nation of Alivara. This relationship has developed fractions of late with the invasion of northern Munasarja by Emelisse of the Sea and her loyalists. Munasarja has fostered a strong alliance with the island nation of Niagassal to the north and has allowed an embassy to be built within the city of Shookset. However, years of poor leadership and manipulation has left Munasarja without many other alliances. Jyn Urndlikr has closed the doors to their underground cities and cast out all Munasarjan people. Cultrius patrols the borders of their nation closely and skirmishes have been known to break out awhen people attempt to cross the border into the western nation. To the east the nation of Einsaung Nathas increased their presence on the border as well as the people of Einsaung Nat struggle to trust those of Munasarja based on their actions of the past.

Agriculture & Industry

Munasarja's landscape is dominated by mountains which are heavily populated with mines and mining villages.  Iron, ore, and other valuable minerals are extracted from the ranges of the Arcane Mountains and shipped to nearby smelting plants where these ores are refined into metals and exported across Falandas.  These metals are frequently sent to Alivara where they are transformed into both mundane construction materials as well as weapons and armor.  Artists from Einsaung Nat willingly risk the tension between the two nations to import metals from Munasarja for various projects crafted in Einsaung Nat.   Sandwiched between the south western tip of the Arcane Mountains and the border of Einsaung Nat the land is dotted with cotton and silk farms.  The majority of these materials are used locally by arcane seamstresses who incorporate an element of their arcane power to create clothing sold to the wealthy and powerful figures of Munasarja.  While the common folk of Munasarja may never own such fine clothing the people of Munasarja are considered to be dressed extravagantly in comparison to other nations.

Legislative Body
The Munasarjan monarchy has undergone a renaissance after the War of Ascension and the transition of the throne to Drage Hollingsworth. In the years that had followed the war the throne sat empty with multiple parties laying claim. Drage Hollingsworth, former Lord Knight of the Knights of Vinnguardia spoke the loudest with the entirety of the Knights sworn to protect Munasarja standing behind him. Though there are still those that dispute King Drage's claim to the throne there are no detractors with the powers, influence, or resources to stand in opposition.   Sensing the growing tensions among his people, King Hollingsworth sought to incorporate those who have migrated to Munasarja from other nations into the day to dat operations of Munasarja. Government positions, tax offices, and city services have made great efforts to employ immigrants when the opportunity presents itself. However, incorporating these persons into the smaller roles holds no impact on the governing body of the country. The monarchy rules on all proposed laws, sets the taxes, and retains persons to enforce these rulings.
