Joint Armistice Lands
In the war that brought an end to the 4th Era, the Galfin mainland of Gaul was divided into warring nations. Mercadia and Palandis faced off against the Vul'Adnian Magistrate and Ivoria. However, after the family leaders of these nations surrendered to the combined forces of the native elves and Mercadians, Ella Skytracer was crowned as the first Highqueen of Galfin. Realizing that the concept of land and borders had been a root cause of the conflict, she abolished all nations on the mainland, including her own, and instead divided it into seven geographical regions based on natural features.
These regions were known as the Echose Marshland, the Incantum Forest, the Firefang Jags, the Caluan Desert, the Gaulan Plains, the Vargen Swamplands, and the Ivorian Heathlands. Collectively, this new alliance of regions was called the Joint Armistice Lands. The Westking, Eastking, Tombking, Jaggedking, and Tidesking were required to submit to the Highqueen and accept peace. All abided with the exception of the Tidesking and Jaggedking. The Tidesking's throne was vacant, causing disarray in Pacura, while the Jaggedking continued to fight until a plague devastated their mountain kingdom after the war.
As part of the peace agreement, the elves, dwarves, and ogres were granted an increased level of autonomy over their native lands, allowing them to have more control and influence over their respective regions. This new arrangement aimed to create a more unified and peaceful Galfin mainland, with the Highqueen overseeing the Joint Armistice Lands and the various races coexisting with greater autonomy and harmony.
Despite the initial peace agreement that formed the Joint Armistice Lands, the Vargen Swamplands have managed to break free in the present day. The ogres, who had fought numerous wars against the armies of man, eventually gained their independence from the Joint Armistice Lands. They established their own country, known as the Unbound Region of Vargen.
Driven by their desire for autonomy and independence, the ogres successfully fought for their freedom from the Joint Armistice Lands, breaking away from the unified alliance of regions. The Unbound Region of Vargen now stands as a sovereign nation, separate from the other six regions, with the ogres exercising their own rule and governance.
This development has had significant repercussions on the political landscape and dynamics within the Galfin mainland, as the Unbound Region of Vargen charts its own path and deals with its unique challenges and opportunities. The other regions, remaining within the Joint Armistice Lands, have to navigate the changes brought about by the Vargen Swamplands' secession, reshaping the balance of power and relationships among the different lands.
