Purple Dragon

The Purple Dragons are draconic lords of elemental storm and wind, making their home on floating islands and eldritch fortresses of caged lightning. Of all the dragons, they are the most vain and alof, never deigning to touch the ground if they can avoid it. Purple dragons are generaly constantly amused by the lesser species, often going to great lengths to capture famous playwrights and bards to entertain them. But one should be wary of purpel dragons, as once roused to wrath they are relentless and destructive, completely eradicating the object of their ire and leaving only blasted wasteland and floating ruins behind.
Because of their fascination with the lesser races, and the fact that they have no interest in ruling dirt, they are the most diplomatic of elemental dragons, willing to rule over vassal nations as distant tyrants, provided that theyr subjects and slaves remember to pay tribute, both in material and cultural wealth.
Among the hierarchy of dragons, the purple are not the most powerful, but they have long been among the most stable lineages. When the Black Dragons rebelled, the Purple Dragons survived relatively unscathed throuth the civil war as their fortresses were mobile, even if many of their expendable humanoid subjects were lost. They did however lose one very important thing: Eanil, one of their oldest mothers. Gargath One-Eye killed her in a surprise ambush.
After the civil war, the Purple Dragons have grown to hate their black cousins, and are most proactive against the Onyx Throne and loyal Black Dragons, whose plans they sabotage with their networks of rogues.
The animosity towards the Black Dragons has cost the Purple Dragons many resources, allowing Tiamat, the matron of Red Dragons, to claim a great deal of power in the Draconic Empire. Some even whisper that she played a hand in Eanil's death, and if proof of this ever came to light then a scond civil war would break apart the Draconic Empire.
