Kaisushiro

Land of Spirits

(If you want to get in the mood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_SX_8Un_SI)
In Kaisushiro, spirits of the deceased remain in the world, becoming either Kamis (good) or Onis (evil). Kamis protect and guide their families, villages, or cities. The population reveres Kamis, with shamans and spiritualists facilitating communication between the living and these spirits. Summoners use the power of Kamis in combat and other activities, visiting temples for blessings to summon them as Eikons or merge with them temporarily for enhanced abilities. Onis, on the other hand, are malevolent spirits that harm the living. Using their energy is strictly forbidden due to the risk of corruption. Summoners work to contain and eliminate Oni threats, purifying affected areas. This crucial role is one reason why summoners are highly respected in Kaisushiro.

Sealers of Jenoxiel

Kaisushiro faces constant threats from the aberrations of Jenoxiel, a malevolent god. His spawns and followers are most persistent near the Jenoxiel Rift, the site of his supposed final battle. These threats are countered by mercenaries, adventurers, Tsuihous (mercenaries with Jenoxiel's blood), and temple warriors and summoners. To prevent Jenoxiel's return, a Meyo Summoner must sacrifice themselves to summon a Kami capable of destroying Jenoxiel's Vessel. Although this temporarily diminishes the attacks, Jenoxiel creates a new vessel every three years.

Rulers of Kaisushiro

Kaisushiro is a theocracy where summoners hold significant influence. The country is divided into regions, each governed by a Celestial Guardian, an ex-Meyo Summoner who commands great respect and can invoke the powerful spirit of their temple. Each region has two Celestial Guardians. Above them are the Celestial Rulers, descendants of the first Meyo Aro Summoner, who govern by tradition and honor.

Culture and Society

Kaisushiro's culture values honor, discipline, and respect, emphasizing family and tradition. The elderly are revered as sources of wisdom, and societal norms include bowing at the entrance of homes and removing shoes inside. Despite the strong sense of community, those who fail to meet family expectations can face prejudice.
