Scene 1 - The Bandit Attack

The session began with wrapping up from the previous session. After Ava Millerani defeated the bandit leader, the other bandits immediately became lethargic and nonaggressive. They all began wandering away without any direction. The party also realized that each of the bandits gave off a distinctive "fishy" odor. Ava recognized one of the "Bandits" as Samson, a farmer from Harlaton that had gone missing the previous fall. He seemed unresponsive, but awake, so Ava sat him down by the fire to discuss the next steps.   Chi Natsu and Theo began trying to track the wagon, but they quickly determined that the horses had galloped at full speed away, and due to the darkness quickly approaching, it was impossible to track.   Meanwhile, Sharos and Maura freed the 3 hostages. They said they were hired along with the griffon tamer who was killed by the bandits in the initial attack. They were on their way to see Duke Edmund Parlfray in Thurmaster. They were hired to bring the griffon as a gift for his son's 18th Birthday celebration. Now that the griffon had been lost, there was little chance of them getting paid, so they would head back to the capital Valeria from Milborne instead.
Finally, on searching the bandit leader, the party found a small broken clay tablet that appears to have triggered the black circle, and a ring that radiated a faint enchantment magic, but its full use could not be determined. The ring had a distinctive circle with two curving lines passing through it, and a small blue gemstone set in the top.   As the other "bandits" wandered off into the distance, the party decided that due to the lateness of the time that it was best to make their way quickly to Milborne, and rest there.

Scene 2: Milborne

Arriving in Milborne, the first thing the party noticed were the tolling bells of the church. The group split, with Sharos heading to the Temple of Cohar, and the rest of the party heading to The Baron of Mutton, with the merchants and Samson in tow. Arriving there, the Merchants discovered that the Merchants guild had already settled rooms for the evening for their company, and offered one of the rooms to the party as gratitude for saving them.   Meanwhile, Sharos went to the Temple to see his old mentor Alanac, only to find Semheis there instead. Semheis mistook Sharos's arrival as part of the funeral arrangements for Baron Brewalan Carman, but only mentioned the funeral. Sharos, still struck by the news of his mentor's passing, misunderstood and thought the funeral was for Alanac himself. He agreed to conduct the funeral on the following day. After that, Sharos went to the river to thing for a while, then headed to Nafton's Stables & Kennel to see Nafton. It was there he learned of the Baron's passing and the funeral was for him. He also learned that Semheis was a bit of an overachiever and seems to have put off some or all of the town.   In the morning Sharos rejoined the rest of the group at the Baron of Mutton, and they questioned Samson. He didn't remember anything of the past several months, and the last thing he did recall was walking in his field. He saw some farmers approach him, and went to question them, then he blacked out and didn't recall anything until he woke that morning. Maura used a Potion of Shared Memories to extract the memory, and Ava viewed it. Ava then recognized one of the men as another of the bandits responsible for the attack on her and her brother.   The party decided to move on, and not stay for the Baron's funeral. They decided they should get to the boathouse early to leave as soon as possible. When they arrived downstairs, Sharos recognized Andren and Jelenneth from his vision. He questioned them about the events of the vision, but his intensity made them a little nervous. He backed away and told them to be careful, because something dark was coming.

Notes

Unrelated to the session, I've decided to begin expanding out beyond the Duchy of Haranshire itself. I think that I may use this as the basis for a new homebrew campaign setting. To that end, I've named the country for which Haranshire is a part of (Thalendyr is the country, ruled by King Aldric iV). And listed out the other 11 Duchies that make up Thalendyr. You can find them on the country page above.   Additionally, I've started a brief outline of Nobility. This gives you an idea of what each title is and how they got it. I still have more work to do here, but it's a star.
