The Far Gods

Influence

The Far Gods are feared across the continent of Kaerinthe and any worship of them often occurs in secretive cults or in certain monster societies. No-one knows from where the Far Gods came from, though the Book of Lyreas and other ancient texts seem to suggest that they are not native to the plane of Kaerinthe and are responsible for the etherstorms that ravage the continent.   These texts also seem to suggest that the Far Gods created the Farfolk: Most of the world's monster races including both lesser monsters and humanoid monsters such as Orcs, Goblins, Bugbears, Gith, Yuan-ti, Gnolls, Changelings, and more. It is for this reason, people theorize, that many of the monster races are possessed by the etherstorms, and their societies worship the Far Gods. It also seems that the Far Gods have influence in other planes and are responsible for the creation of Demons and Devils alike. Interestingly enough, Drow of the underdark seem to have adopted the Far Gods, despite not being Farfolk themselves.   It is important to note, however, that not all Farfolk seem to be linked in this way to the Far Gods. Many of the Farfolk live as part of civilization, unaffected by the storms and unbeholden to the Far Gods. Scholars are yet unsure why the Farfolk seem to differ in this way, though this has a tendency to result in varying degrees of discrimination depending on society.   Cults to the Far Gods exist in many unseen corners of Kaerinthe and the Multifold, though pockets of organized Monster societies exist that worship the Far Gods. Some examples of these include the monster nation of the Dolska Steppe, a great hidden monster city within the Parmali Dunes, the Yuan-ti tribes of Kwagema, and the Drow of the Underdark.

Religion

Religion dedicated to the Far Gods are most often cults dedicated to a specific Far God. The specific customs of these cults vary wildly and have been difficult to pin down. On rare occasion, more organized practices of worship do exist such as amongst the Drow of the Underdark.
