Sapphire Palace
The Sapphire Palace is the ancestral home of the Emperor and His Divine Family, located within the heart of the oldest sections of Edo. It is built to withstand any siege, and serves both as a home and a refuge for His Divine Self.
Architecture
The Sapphire Palace draws its name from the blue-tinted, magically reinforced glass which encompasses much of it's construction. Though the base of the palace is made of local bedrock and stone, the majority of the structure has been laid with glass blown in the nearby Duergar city of Vurn Todur.
This glass is dusted with a blue tint, giving the palace, and it's grounds, a soft, sapphire glow, which eventually led to the palace's name.
In addition to being made of blue glass, the walls and windows are magically and physically reinforced against damage and destruction, a testament to the Rock Gnomes and their desire to keep their Emperor safe.

Tourism
The Palace is absolutely off limits to foreigners, and even Rock Gnomes must have special permission to enter it; it is the seat of power for the empire, and there rests the throne of TennōHeika. None may lay eyes upon the Emperor without His Divine permission.
The Palace can be seen from several places throughout the city, and can be admired from afar, but very few can enter the palace itself.
